Louisiana has come a long way since the mid-1990s. Back then we remember a couple of years when the biggest job deals were new Wal-Mart stores. Those days are gone, replaced by a Louisiana economy that is as vibrant as any in the South. In fact, over the last three years no state in the South has performed better than Louisiana, as evidenced by 2007 and 2009 "State of the Year" honors and an "Honorable Mention" in 2008.
This year Louisiana is sharing “State of the Year” honors with Tennessee. Louisiana led all Southern states in the all important points per million residents average and its 310 points topped Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Alabama and Virginia straight up. That's a pretty good year.

Yes. Lucky Louisiana has a real Conservative serving their State. They will do better than those of us who are overseen by the tax and spend Liberals. And, no, Arnold isn’t a Conservative. Although, surprisingly, he acted like one in this recent budget battle.

I can tell you that in the last few months I have noticed more and more out of state license plates here. I’m not sure if thats good or bad.
Don’t know where you are, but there are lots of new out of staters in LA and TX. I have recently seen California, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, a couple of New Yorks. Same thing happened here in Texas during the mid to late 70’s. The auto industry was on it’s backside and a lot of midwesterners came down here and stayed. The population of Houston at the time was around 1.5 million. Now it is close to 5 million and still growing.
Ya know...the Pubbies need to start parading how the Blue State Republican Governed economies are doing...against the Red State Marxists....
Same thing has been happening here in Tennessee for about the past 10 years. Mostly, it's folks fleeing the northeast, i.e., NY, NJ, CT, NH, VT, MA. Most seem to move to Florida, but can't stand the heat, humidity, 'skeeters and hurricanes and they move halfway back, settling in TN, NC, SC, or VA. We call 'em "halfbacks" around here.
We've also seen a significant influx of folks fleeing California, Minnesota and Michigan. Gee, aren't all three of those states run in large part by Liberal DemocRats?

If we ever left our beloved Texas, Louisiana would be our second choice. We love that state...and congrats Gov. Jindal!
I’m in Louisiana. We have quite a few Texans coming to LA. Mostly Hispanics but a good bit of others too. It’s probably related to hurricane reconstruction.I’m sure it’s also some who are moving back after fleeing the hurricanes and briefly settling in Texas.

Thanks. I'm originally from LA, and we're pretty fond of Texans, too. I'm currently stuck in the "great" Northwest (Washington), but I hope to live to retire, and right now I favor west Texas (got too many allergies to move back to Louisiana, but dry climates don't stir them up).
Mostly attracting new jobs and businesses.
I’ve lived on the Gulf Coast all my life......allergies are a way of life and the heat is unbearable the older I get.....I might have to retire to the North Pole.....LOL
Since moving out west, I've found that the old saying "it ain't the heat, it's the humidity" is true. I've been in California when it was 120F (but LOW humidity), and it felt about like Baton Rouge in early summer (90 deg and 90%RH).
Half backs. That’s funny. We have snowbirds in the winter from the upper midwest. For a lot of years, they would go home in the spring, but a good number of them are staying. They already have the RV and they can find a good park to stay, then what the hey?
We just got back from St. Francisville the last week in June and it was sooooo hot, I jumped into the pool with Hub and the grandkids.........and I don’t have a bathing suit. I wore my shorts and tank top.....THAT’S how hot it was.......LOL
