State budget deal reduces prison inmates by 27,000

Reporting from Sacramento -- The state budget deal negotiated by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and legislative leaders would reduce the population of California prisons by nearly 27,000 inmates in the current fiscal year.

That would be done with a combination of new measures, including allowing some inmates to finish their sentences on home detention, creating new incentives for completion of rehabilitation programs and scaling back parole supervision for the least serious offenders.

I would only support this for people incarcerated for “drug offenses.”

If you sent 80% of them back to their country of origin on buses, we’d save in a LOT of ways...

Just make everything legal; rape, murder, robbery, burglary, assault...That’s how FL solved their roach problem, just started calling them palmetto bugs.

Absotively. A gun used in a defensive act could put some of the more violent perps in the morgue rather than a guaranteed three-hots-and-a-cot rebar motel.

Any wonder why gun manufacturers are having a hard time keep stock on the shelves? How about ammo?

The policy of keeping the 2nd ammendment "down" has led us to a society where vicitimology and thugology have been raised to an art form. We should be building more morgues, not prisons.

As to non-violent criminals, well, we should separate drug users from punks who don't respect other people's property. In the first case, let them go with a warning, in the latter, make 'em work it off to pay the victim.

Could you expound on this? It would seem that it matters not whether the State makes any of these acts 'illegal' if the people are prepared to defend themselves against such acts (which are clearly acts of harm for which little defense exists).

If none of these acts are illegal then no bad guys will be arrested and sent to jail. Defending yourself from attack would, of course, be illegal but will end up with a smaller population of productive citizens who can be easily extorted through the legal system.

This article is just chock full of data!

Impacts Of Illegal Immigration: Crime
http://www.usillegalaliens.com/impacts_of_illegal_immigration_crime.html

In 1980, our Federal and state facilities held fewer than 9,000 criminal aliens but at the end of 2003, approximately 267,000 illegal aliens were incarcerated in U.S. correctional facilities, as follows

46,000 in Federal prisons

74,000 in state prisons

147,000 in local jails

Secure BOTH borders and Voila! The prison problems across America are solved...including the HUGE ASTRONOMICAL COSTS of $22K each. And instantly, we have 267K available beds for AMERICAN FELONS!
