The right-wing blogosphere is abuzz over the supposed smackdown between Sen. Barbara Boxer and Harry C. Alford, who portrays himself as an "African American and a veteran" who is insulted at Boxer's alleged racism and calls her on it...

Alford is also an ardent opponent of the Employee Free Choice Act—no surprise, since he also sits on the board of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a leading EFCA opponent. He's been claiming that EFCA would harm African-American-owned businesses. His April op-ed for Roll Call on the issue of enabling workers to form unions is an example of how he is willing to use race to push an anti-labor agenda:....

The Hillary-supporting Democrats are becoming increasingly annoyed, and angry, about what Obama is doing to there chances.

I have to disagree with this assessment. The Black Chamber of Commerce promotes Capitalism, and the private sector industries. They have a vested interest in the improvement of the American condition through an improvement of the condition of Black Americans.

Imagine if more Black Americans were involved in organizations that promoted private industry and private enterprise solutions to the problems of Black Americans. I can assure you there would be fewer people on welfare, in public housing, and prison.

I have to disagree with this assessment.

If I was a member of the White Chamber of Commerce which excluded Blacks you probably would think I was racist.

It's time for conservatives to get away from this double standard. I don't care if affirmative action or any other form of discrimination fosters an "improvement of the condition of Black Americans." It's racist and its un-American and it's wrong.

I might agree with many of Mr. Alford's positions but that doesn't make me less inclined to point out that any organization named the BLACK Chamber of Commerce is clearly bringing up race.

Although I have nothing but contempt for Pelosi, she was clearly correct in pointing out that many Blacks disagree with Alford. I don't see anything racist in this at all.

We can't become "knee jerk" conservatives. I won't use one racist argument to defeat another racist. Alford brought up race by merely being there as a leader of a "black" organization. If he can't take it being pointed out that other groups, with "Black" or "Negro" in their names, disagree with him than he should not be representing them in a public forum.

When Mr. Alford wants to be listened to as an American, I'll listen. If he wants me to listen to him as a Black American, I decline.

It wasn't Pelosi, It was Barbara Boxer.

Every person has the right to associate with anybody they want to associate with, and exclude anybody they want. The Boy Scouts exclude Homosexuals. The VFW excludes those who never served in the armed forces, The local Italian-American club requires that you have Italian Heritage and most business organizations exclude those people who do not fit the organizations profile.

The Black Chamber of Commerce is in business to help promote all business by helping black owned businesses in particular. If there is a group of people in this country that could use some help in private sector activities, it is the black community. As a matter of fact the Quote of TR that you sent was a speech given to the Knights of Columbus National Convention. Guess what, They exclude anybody who is not a Male Roman Catholic from joining their group. They promote Catholic causes, and provide fraternal insurance services strictly to Roman Catholics and their families. I am saying that this is the type of organization that could actually help the Black community by advancing Private Business solutions in the Black community.

What Boxer did is Straight Up Racist on its face. It would be the same as if she argued that I should proclaim the same beliefs as Ted Kennedy because we are both Irish Catholic.
