And, since we can only based our research on public records, the Mormon church cannot “establish” Obama’s citizenship. Furthermore, his place of birth is irrelevant to what they are doing, and I’m confident they will take his word for who his parents are. They will just search public records for the ancestry of those parents.
As a suspicious Mormon, I wonder whether Reid thinks he can parlay President Monson’s deep concern for those in need into institutional support for socialized medicine. I doubt it. I don’t know what President Monson’s political affiliations are, or have been. I know he is a great advocate of private charitable service, but that doesn’t necessarily translate into support for government run health care.
I am glad to see that he has taken Dallin Oaks with him. He is a brilliant lawyer, and solid conservative, IMO.

The pressure to supply names is so great that people go through cemeteries getting names and dates from the tombstones of people who are not their relatives....
Just how many mormons were related to Stanley Ann Durham ???

Just because the stats of some person is listed in the IGI does not qualify as a “public record” of the person named...

Dallin Oakes was the lawyer who wrote that paper a few years ago that “proved” it was legal for Joey Smith as Mayor of Nauvoo to destroy the printing press of the Nauvoo Expositor thus violating the 1st Amendment rights of William Law...
