Yaaaayyy Rush is back.
I look forward to his commentary on the British Open. He always brings an interesting perspective to these things.
My nephew, Stewart Cink, was kind of the skunk-at-the-party winner. Most of the press is covering him as the spoiler rather than just the winner, or last man standing. I wonder if Rush will do the same.
(While I wish Tom hadn’t had to lose in order for Stew to win, the fact remains that Tom just plain ran out of gas. He’d been magnificent for 71 glorious holes. And we were cheering him along with the rest of the world. But he didn’t get it done in the end.)
Your nephew is Stewart Cink the new golf champion?
Tom gave his every last bit...nuthin but respect here and Cik factually won
That’s OK. The press can say whatever they want, but true fans of the game and sport know different.
First, Stewart HAD TO make the clutch putt on 18, or Tom Watson still wins. And knowing that he hit the perfect putt reacting 3 feet before it went in made it more so.
If they want to use that logic too, they need to get on Lee Westwood and his bogey, bogey, bogey finish. At one point, he did have his hands on the Jug too.
As has been said before with either Tom or Stewart, golf can’t lose cause class, respect and sportsmanship on and off the course are most important to these two gentlemen of the game.
I watched Golf Channel late into the night and they showed a shot of Tom as he was leaving the course last night, signing autographs and accepting the well wished from a group of people. Class, you betcha!!!

Now if we only can get Stewart to FReep!
Wow; Stewart Cink is your nephew? I’m in awe! He was simply awesome. Loved the story about how he had to fly to DC to renew his children’s passports, before going over to play.
