RECOVERY.GOV // AWARDED: $351,807 FOR 'REPLACE AND UPGRADE THE DUMBWAITER'...
RECOVERY.GOV // AWARDED: $1,562,568 FOR 'MOZZARELLA CHEESE'...
RECOVERY.GOV // AWARDED: $5,708,260 FOR 'PROCESS CHEESE'...
I agree. Obviously, the “recovery.gov” website leaves a lot to be desired as far as conveying complete info and I presume that’s a story in itself. But I’m not getting too bent out of shape (yet) till I see some quantities for these examples.
Still the whole “stimulus” thing is a scam in principle.
Wait, does this mean we spent 2.5 million dollars on 2 lb of ham? It couldn't be 2 lb containers of ham, half a million of them or something, could it?
Yeah, but it's a REALLY good ham!
Cheese huh? Could use some around here....
The toad tunnel cost $14,000. Even California had more common sense. They only spent $14,000 on a toad tunnel.
$3.4 million of your taxpayer dollars going to be used on a turtle tunnel! Oh, wait. Hang on just a second. I apologize. I didn't finish reading the whole story. The wildlife crossing is only in the design stages. Oh. Hang on. Let me keep reading. $3.4 million for the design, for the design. So we're putting architects to work. For the design of the tunnel. Oh, here it is. It will require $6 million to be completed. So an unworking wildlife tunnel for turtles has cost you already $3.4 million and is going to be $6 million paid for by you.
“But we gotta spend money to keep from going bankrupt”
I had dinner with my parents last night and when I threw in the little tidbit above about spending money to keep from going bankrupt my dad had this look on his face like I must be stark raving mad and he almost choked on his meal. Of course he felt much better when he knew it was our VP who said this.
Looks like the completion date for the ‘processed cheese’ is 2031. That oughta help some poor slob get a job today.
Im glad you posted this.
If you click on the links on Drudge it looks like the WH deleted the titles.
Didn’t recovery.gubberment bullcrap spend ALOT of money on this site? Were they hacked or was it real?
Really? So depending on how much ham they're buying, it's a moral social contract that allows us to spend dollars from future generations on HAM?
Say it's 50c/lb. Bargain. Say the government bought 4 million pounds of ham for $2 million on our grandkids' tab. That makes it better?
We planning on freezing it for them to eat when they enter the workforce to work off a $500,000 per capita national debt?
This is the amount PER package or unit, not the total amount of food sold to the gov’t. It’s food for distribution to needy people apparently.
It's very simple . . . . former Acorn voter registrants are now filling out porkulous forms . . . . and the former Acorn votor registration supervisors are now in charge of rubber stamping them.
It's income redistribution, Chicao style . . . .
Someone save this before it disappears
Yeah. Maybe it could be. And then that makes it better? The govt buying 500,000 hams is better than only 250,000? WTF is the federal government going to do with HAM?!?!
They were supposed to be building BRIDGES and ROADS and WINDMILLS that last for decades!
We're not even spending OUR money. We're spending our grandkids into debt. BUYING FRAKKING HAM!
Really? Nonsense. You don't know that. It could be rotting in a hot warehouse for all you know.

You can't make this stuff up.
I’m actually SHOCKED that this is even on the gov website.
They can, after all, just “forget” to list certain things.
How can ANYONE, even the MOST RABID dem supporters, support spending over a million dollars for a sliced ham?!!!
The question is, “Exactly WHO is POCKETING this money?”
Yeah. But at least the turtle tunnel will still be there when the grandkids are driving to their chinese factory job in 20 years. The HAM will be long gone!
$3.4 million to design a tunnel for turtles is nuts
Perhaps we are dropping 500,000 cans on the Taliban as kinetic bombs. Oh the humanity!
