I was at grad school and remarked that an arm of the government, the ATF, just executed dozens of Americans without trial.

All of my fellow students within earshot (maybe ten) supported the elimination of those crazy bible thumpers.

It was then that I understood how average, middle class Germans in the 1930s made little fuss over Hitler's racial and religious laws.

I was at work at the time it happened - pretty much the same reaction along the lines of those crazy cultists deserved it.

Sure was an insight into how most people think (or don't think too much).

A student summer research helper was from Texas. Her grandfather had a ranch and she went there every other weekend for years.

On the way to the ranch, she passed the Branch Davidian Compound. I asked her what the people in the area thought about the killing of all those people.

She said most were glad to see them gone.

Obama could become a Hitler here in America and far too many wouldn’t be concerned.
