They’re also willing to perpetuate the misinformation that Gov. Palin said she could see Russia from her house, though they did mention Tina Fey, but not attributing the quote to her. I’m not sure which is worse, willingly misquoting or being too lazy or stupid to verify it.

I now understand why other society (good and bad ones) control their press more tightly than we do in the US. They are filled with miscreants who want to tear down your society no matter what. In whatever future US society comes about (even a conservative one), they may need to have the clamps put on them.

I seem to recall a fair amount of tumult in and around Little Rock, Arkansas, in the year after election night 1992. The New York Times declined to describe it as such, however.
