The Mayor's ex-Hispanic affairs advisor was duped out of $3.8M in a real-estate scam. Self-made millionaire Fernando Mateo used his life savings to buy a share of a building from a man who falsely claimed he was the landlord. Dominican-born Mateo, founder of the grass-roots movement "Hispanics Across America" said he had lost "virtually all his assets." Mateo works community programs, including one that taught inmates at Rikers Island how to be carpet installers, plumbers and electricians. Mateo, who heads the NY State Federation of Taxi Drivers, was duped when Henry Vargas allegedly said he and his family owned a 90% stake in the Harlem building. The real landlord, Manuel Duran, came forward and proved he had owned the building since 1997.

Hmmmmmm......watta an operator. And all under one identity? The latino millionaire's got several sources of income.......almost all supplied by taxpayers: (1) aide to the Mayor, (2) the non-profit "Hispanics Across America," (3) tax-funded community programs that taught inmates at Rikers Island how to be carpet installers, plumbers and electricians and (4) head of the NY State Federation of Taxi Drivers. Guy musta been sucking up tax dollars like a nuclear-powered vacuum.

Should this be classified as a “Hispanic on Hispanic crime,” or a “Latino on Latino crime?”
To: Liz
Somehow the taxpayers will make sure he is reimbursed.

Whatever happened to escrow and title insurance -you know, no deedey no money. Or does the really smart money just skip that step?
To: Cowboy Bob
Now here are a couple of wise-guy latinos and one of them is a community organizer too.
I’m sure both much better crooks than any white man could be.

How does this guy who worked for the municipality and probably some social agencies to boot get three million dollars to lose? Isnt that the real question here?

yeah, very fishy deal indeed. More than meets the eye for sure. First there is a deposit, then there is title search, escrow, etc, etc,
No closing until all risks have been removed. This deal was not done “according to hoyle” for sure.

That is the real question, but it is the one question the MSM will not ask. No way could this guy have saved nearly $4 million with his job background. He just may have gotten his “just desserts”.

We have to put real pressure on the Honduran military to allow the country to revert to democracy.
In my opinion, if we go with "Hispanic on Latino" we can make it a hate crime, thereby doubling the penalty.

Should this be classified as a Hispanic on Hispanic crime, or a Latino on Latino crime? Its "returning the nation's wealth to its rightful owners" :-)
