After my first pass, I was as happy and giddy as a schoolchild. (Hell, yeah! Throw those power-grabbing good-for-nothings out of office and replace them! Revoke their power. Restore the rule of law!)

After my second pass, I was still excited about the concept and the possibilities but began to think about the details of implementing these actions and the possible consequences of such. (Yeah, yeah, we totally could do this. It could work if we did it peacefully and without violence. What about the half of the country that actually likes the government that is currently in place? Would they be willing to recognize as legitimate a new form of government? Given the chance to elect new government representatives would they elect representatives of the same character and mentality of those currently serving? Would we be right back where we started with an evenly divided set of government representatives?)

After my third pass, the excitement had worn off and reality began to sink in. Questions lingered. (Hey, wait a minute. What if the elected officials currently in place refused to go? What if half the country refused to recognize a new government and therefore refused to participate in electing new representation for themselves. Wouldn't they see the new government as not representative of their own rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? Would they feel forced to take action as we did? Would they do so peacefully or violently?)

After my fourth pass, complete and utter dread set in. (Oh no, there is no chance at a peaceful reformation and resolution with half of the country. There would be terrible violence and bloodshed. The entire country would shut down upon itself.)

After my fifth pass, I began to negotiate with myself and offer compromises within the current system that didn't lead to total chaos and bloodshed the likes of which we've not seen and could not imagine. (If the problem is that two halves of the country have completely different mindsets, ideas, and values, would we be more successful integrating change within the current system so as not to alienate half the country and instigate violence on their part? How could we do that? Could we some mandate that the new session of Congress after the 2010 elections immediately address our primary concerns as their first order of business and forbid them to take any other actions, pass any other laws? How could we do that?)

After my sixth pass, I'm left feeling that the only avenue to successful (and peaceful) change, reformation, and reduction of the current system of government will only be possible within the framework of the system in place today.

I'm going to read it again. Did you consider any of these scenarios in your head? Did you ask yourself any of these questions? Did you come to the conclusion that peaceful, nonviolent change could be successfully implemented? If so, how did you reach that conclusion? I need to understand that thought process. (It's an honest, sincere question and is absolutely not intended to be sarcastic or antagonistic in any way.)

within the framework of the system in place today.

The system in place today is corrupt. Think ACORN. How will we ever have a valid vote again?

I think I will continue reading it pass after pass and refining it and incorporating the ideas of people much smart than myself until we develop a document, or a concept that has a chance of succeeding. The succeeding concept will probably include the vast support of the majority of the people and of the sovereign states of America or it won’t succeed at all.

As it is, the states and the people are all headed for bankruptcy forced upon us by Marxist fools, and our beloved country is headed for total collapse.

Yes, and the fools who said the USSR would never collapse under its own weight are the very same fools and useful idiots pushing now for the very same Marxist programs and policies that brought that great Marxist totalitarian state and world superpower down. Marxism always leads to the same place. Even for great superpowers.

Reasonable fears, well articulated. Good job.

A noted one, who kept a tavern at Amboy, was standing at his door, with as pretty a child in his hand, about eight or nine years old, as most I ever saw, and after speaking his mind as freely as he thought prudent, finished with this unfatherly expression, “Well give me peace in my day...”

Not a man lives on the continent but fully believes that a separation must some time or other finally take place, and a generous parent should have said, “It there must be trouble, let it be in my day that my child may have peace,” and this single reflection, well applied, is sufficient to awaken every man to duty. ``Thomas Paine, The Crisis, Dec. 23, 1776

I think you and anyone else who thinks that peaceful change can happen in this country from this point forward is absolutely kidding yourself.

You forget that the current illegal occupier of the White House told his supporters during the campaign to "get in our faces" and make the race a "street fight."

He ain't leaving peacefully, nor will his supporters sit by quietly. They're prepared to fight. The question is, is our side prepared to meet fire with fire?

I certainly mean no offense to you with the following statement because I've read your post and think you're a thoughtful person. But my opinion is this: the time to analyze the situation to death is long since over. I think the founding fathers would've been done by now. There's no way they'd have put up with the CRAP this government has been doling out to you and I for decades now. When you think about it, our Founding Fathers declared our Independence over far less than the absolute bullshit this Government subjects you and I to every day.

I think if the founding fathers were here, there would've been 537 tarred, feathered, dead, rotting corpses swinging from the steps of OUR Capital a long time ago.

These dirty, filthy, corrupt BASTARDS that occupy OUR House, Senate and White House think you and I exist to serve them. They've long since forgotten that THEY WORK FOR US.

I say it's time to remind them using the very methods and spirt that our Founding Fathers would have. There is a reason we have the Second Amendment, and it's to protect us from the TYRANNICAL Government that we have now.

Enough is enough. I don't know how old you are but I'm 46. My sons are 10 and 12 years old. Either we have this revolution NOW and clean up the mess that infests Washington DC, or my sons (and maybe yours) will have to do it because we were COWARDS at this point in history and wouldn't do the job.

I don't know about you, but there's no way I want my sons to have to fight for me because I was too much of a COWARD to fight for them.

I'm not getting any younger, neither is the rest of us. IMO this "President" has declared WAR on each and every one of us hard working, tax paying citizens in this country. He seeks to take the fruits of OUR labors by theft of legislation, to give them to his ACORN thug constituency.

What's worse is this ASSHOLE that sits in the White House has spent $2 TRILLION dollars we didn't have, and enslaved you, I, my sons and my grandchildren into indentured servitude to the damn' Chinese to pay back HIS debt.

No sir. I draw the line. Enough is enough. This asshole has to go, and so do the dirty, rotten, corrupt thieving bastards in Congress (Every damn' one of 'em!) that have enabled this kind of behavior from OUR Government for decades now.

Our Constitution means something. It's not "just words."

Finally, my question back to you (because I do view you as a thoughtful person) is this:

If not now, when? If not us, who?

Respectfully,
USConservative

(And for those of you on DailyKos, DU, where ever, that don't like what I just wrote - you can kiss my Conservative ASS.)

Not only is it possible - it is PROBABLE that if we all focussed 100% on a 2010 Agenda for Return of Constitutional Government in the next election, advocating STRONGLY to turn out of office the scoundrels who are legislating this country down the slipper y slope to third-world socialism, that we WILL create a massive "Revolution" that would would be a bigger earthquake than 1994 or 1980 for the conservative movement. We could see massive losses by liberal Democrat socialist weasels at the state, local and federal level, sending shock waves through the system. The reason why it would be bigger is that it would be powered by millions from the ground up and not a few from the top down.
