Jim, I take this seriously and I like it, a lot. I want my country back.

Please allow me to suggest a few things to help us achieve this goal.

1. List what is wrong.

It would help if people knew what the gov was doing that it shouldn’t, how it affects all of us (Dem, Repub, and Ind.), why it should matter to us personally, the way it used to be or should be, etc. We’ve grown up and become accustomed to our current situation. It seems normal, right, and natural to most. Open some eyes, do some educating. Make it personal. You have many thousands of people here, like me, who know that things are wrong, but don’t know much more than that. Educate us. Open our eyes. There are smart people here to help you. Don’t miss your chance to do something real for our country and her people.

2. Transition.

We can’t realistically undo decades of law all at once.

3a. D.C. March

It won’t work. We have jobs and limited funds. D.C. is too far away for most of us. We should gather where we all live, work, and play, or *something*, but not march on D.C. exclusively.

3b. Marching.

It won’t work. We need to *do* something, like Rosa Parks, that makes a statement. Something we can all do, where we live, that makes a clear statement and CANNOT be IGNORED.

4. Rallying point

We need a leader or rallying point that is serious and will be taken seriously. That means the movement has to be serious too, or we will fail. A movement of serious people who mean business with realistic, attainable goals and are willing to risk their cozy, comfortable lifestyle and financial security to reach those goals.

5. We need others.

To get the numbers and succeed, we must draw others (besides strict Constitutional conservatives) into our movement by showing them how our vision will directly benefit them, even if they don’t share our Conservative values.

6. Motivation.

Money issues motivate people. We need clear issues to motivate people (lots of people) to get off their butts, take risks, and demand change. Brainstorm. Educate yourself on successful and unsuccessful movements both here and abroad. Ask the people here on this forum what type of scenario or situation would motivate them to take risks and take action. I’m certainly not going to skip class, risk my GPA, and spend time and money I don’t have to march on D.C. unless I know something concrete will come of it. I’ll risk it all, my life included, if there’s something I think has a good chance of succeeding and bringing about the change I long for.

Basically, don’t put the cart before the horse. There are steps leading up to what you stated in your opening post. It’s a beautiful goal, one our founders envisioned for us. I’d like to see it become reality, not just fantasy.

********************************************************

Our nation is on its deathbed, literally. Our nation has been critically wounded for a very long time. We may be too late already, I don’t know. I do know that if we don’t *do* something NOW (besides bitch and moan) then we will have no chance for hope apart from civil war or some other horror I don’t wish to see. That or embrace the new world order. Our time and options have nearly run out Jim.

Loved your post, agreed with most of it, although I believe that if the message is strong and well-written and the people gin to understand, a march on DC is a good idea.

your liberal defeatism is showing! ex: Today ( on my TV screen anyway) Obama said: “I’m not going to sign any healthcare bill...”. Now I could have been defeatist like you, and continued to listen to this nattering-nabob-in-chief, but instead I simply hit the Remote ‘previous channel’ button, and all of the sudden I was optimistic again!

On reflection, I may have misread your ideology as negativism, instead of utopianism. You seem inclined to see ‘good government’ as ‘beautiful’. It’s not. Government is always ugly...always ‘the problem, not the solution’ as Reagan said. Therefore the brilliant part of the strategy must be to maintain a de minimus federal government so as not to become too big a problem...and always, always, first do no harm. We may need to swing the pendullum back to ‘too small’ with the foreknowledge that it’s likely to someday grow back to ‘too big’ no matter how hard we try to hold back the reins of a nanny state population.
