American Officials See Link Between Limits, Spate of Attacks

By Ernesto Londoño and Karen DeYoung Washington Post Foreign Service Saturday, July 18, 2009

BAGHDAD, July 17 -- The Iraqi government has moved to sharply restrict the movement and activities of U.S. forces in a new reading of a six-month-old U.S.-Iraqi security agreement that has startled American commanders and raised concerns about the safety of their troops.

Another development for the inexperienced Commander-in-Chief to address. He was slightly less qualified than Sarah Palin to be VP, but unfortunately the electorate chose to make him Prez, with Biden as a backstop (aka, "anti-assassination insurance"). Now they will have to live with the consequences until they get another opportunity to choose a prez.

Obama is absolutely unqualified for any political job beyond Community Organizer.

Does this mean the Iraqis are finally going to take responsibility for taking care of their own country rather than expecting us to do all the work?

When a large attack on US forces in Iraq occurs (surely by them Barry will have ordered the troops to carry unloaded weapons), and the MSM throw up their hands in horror, guess who’ll be blamed? Either GWB or Sarah Palin. Depending.

Doesn’t matter.

It’s not really you who choose the Prez, it’s the CFR, and Rockefeller who choose him.

They’ve lost far more lives to the terrorists in this fight than we have.

Once U.S. troops are all out of Iraq, and maybe sooner, Iraq will revert to its same old, ages-old Islamic waste-hole.

We leave Iraq with no basis for any changes in its essential character as an Islamic state — we leave it an Islamic state, and that's where the problem is to begin with.

I am not laying this on President Bush. It is to be laid on the general notion that a nation can be changed in its violent behavior without changing the real source of its violent aspirations -— ISLAM.

Islamists can now hold their conferences for condemning America right on our own soil, American Christians can be chased, shoved, and slapped off of public streets in Dearborne, Michigan, American flags are burned and trampled in American street gutters by anti-American slogan-yelling Muslims while Americans just gaze in bewilderment.

Bring all Iraqis to America thinking that when they see the freedom of America that they will want it. NO! They will work to destroy America because there are too many Christians here, and they must by all means, including violent means work to establish Islamic institutes and law.

Ten years from now, or sooner, we will see an Iraq more violent, more dangerous, more America-hating, more despotic than it was under the despot they hung.

Wasn't it Patton who said that if he were caught between Nazi and Russian forces he would attack in both directions?

Iran is the real enemy of America and we need Iraq as a staging ground for the “Big One”(when,of course,we get a CinC who doesn't throw like a girl).

Perhaps the Muslims we liberated need some more liberating. Muslims are like liberals in that they crap on the men that protect them. Arm the Kurds!!!

If US troops can’t provide their own security perimeters we’re looking at another Khobar Towers, or Marine Barracks (Beirut) in the making. Just a matter of time, unfortunately.

I wouldn’t let him dish out peas in the the school cafeteria.

He’d ration them.

“Obama is absolutely unqualified for any political job beyond Community Organizer.”

As John Nance Garner said, the VP slot “isn’t worth a bucket of warm [urine].” (he used an earthier term).

On the other hand, so far the limited skills of our ‘organizer in chief’ have been quite adequate to kick GOP tush around the block multiple times, so what does that say about the GOP? To me it says, “GOP is headed to the elephant grave yard from which it emerged, the fragmented remains of disintegrated Whiggery.” Both the Obama Treasury and the residue of the GOP are sock puppets for the “wizards of ooze” on Wall Street.

North of the border

Is America being increasingly dominated by an economic oligarchy? Simon Johnson an MIT Management Professor who was former Chief Economist of the IMF thinks so. Johnson has advocated nationalizing the banks and argues that in fact that has happened to some degree. But it’s important to ask who has taken over whom, because if the foxes have taken over the henhouse, then one way to regard the Tea Party movement is as a protest movement against the transfer of wealth from the taxpayers to this new and immovable elite. If the links between the regulated and the regulator grow ever tighter, will Hope and Change result in effort to break the power of the oligarchy (assuming it exists) or become a program to concentrate control in their hands? Open thread.

So is it the bankers versus the tea partiers, good versus evil or Conan versus Red Sonja? The Daily Mail reports that a number of comic books featuring Barack Obama as an action figure are being planned. And his nemesis is none other than … you guessed it. Maybe the reason the top Republicans seem so colorless is that the situation is either altogether too charged for incrementalism or because the way back is so hard that we can’t face the prospect of righting the ship by inches.
