A War Between Two World Views (The coming battle in the US)
RealClearPolitics ^ | 7/17/2009 | David Warren

Posted on 07/17/2009 2:45:34 PM PDT by mojito

[....]The outrage expressed, today, at the very existence of Sarah Palin, not only by progressive Democrats but by urbane "establishment" Republicans, is in many ways the product of this shift. Increasingly, I find, people on the left simply cannot accept any right-wing view as legitimate. The mere fact it can be so labelled puts it beyond the pale.

We often read that the old categories of "left" and "right" have become irrelevant. It is an argument almost invariably propounded by the left. They have been freed, for more than a generation, from anything resembling serious public debate, and have thus got in the habit of proceeding with an infinitely extendible agenda (through the courts if there are legislative delays). The right has meanwhile got in the habit of feeling disenfranchised.

The right is still there, however: mostly invisible to media editors, beyond their goldfish world. (The immense success of Fox News came from recognizing this "niche market," consisting of about half the population.)

[....]

We are going to have a war, next door in the U.S.A. -- a war between two world views that have become very nearly mutually incomprehensible. One might almost say that it was quietly declared on the op-ed of the Washington Post Tuesday.

". . . a war between two world views that have become very nearly mutually incomprehensible."

America's Founders recognized the two mutually incompatible ideas of tyranny vs. liberty centuries ago, and, as Edmund Burke in England and James Madison in America pointed out, they were able to sniff out approaching tyranny and declare themselves to be "endowed by their Creator" with the right to life, liberty, and the fruits of their labor. And, they structured a Constitution for their government which limited the government and left them free to pursue their own happiness.

Oh, that Americans today could be as wise!

“We often read that the old categories of “left” and “right” have become irrelevant.”

That is of the linear liberal mentality that equates left with Marx and right with Mussolini. With their pea-brains they think the opposite of Stalin was Hitler, yet Conservatives and libertarians understand that both are equally evil Socialism.

Stalin, Mao, Castro and Pol Pot oppressed the individual citizenry through Socialism in the name of the people, whereas Hitler, Mussolini and Franco oppressed the individual citizenry through Socialism in the name of the Nation. It is no coincidence that USSR and NAZI both have the word socialist in their full names.

Individual Freedom is the natural opposite of Socialism.

The anti-gun left is gonna take on the pro-gun right. Okay, sounds good to me. Let me know where and when!

Sure.

But they will (if things get ugly), in typical Liberal fashion, have someone else do their dirty work.

Think in terms of the 'entitlement' class, manipulated, 'community' organized, with media backing, including a criminal component which is organized, armed, experienced and has no compunctions about busting a cap in someone.

Do not underestimate this situation.

It will not be the limousine set fighting in the streets if it comes to that, more like MS-13, crips, and bloods, etc.

Get in shape. Learn all you can, 'cause you just might need to know it.

My linear model ranges from Satan on the leftmost extreme to God on the rightmost.

The only thing I’m sure of is that any widespread civil breakdown will be full of surprises for us all!

Thanks to you both for the positive feedback.

I was thinking I was the only nut case around who thought as I do.

Yeah, that's for sure. Any day now. People looking forward to 2012, or even 2010, are whistling in the dark.

I do not think it is necessarily inevitable at this point.

We have to work like it can be turned around in 2010 and 2012...and prepare like we can't.

IMHO, we should always be doing that anyway.

When Carter was in with his crew, particularly in the first year or two so of his term...a lot of the same feelings existed. Then along came Reagan, whom the people responded to because of the sickening spectacle that was Carter.

I pray we can see a similar set of circumstances with Palin...and am going to work my heart out for it.

At the same time...gun and ammo sales ar e up, and wel;l they should be. Looking forward to adding a Robison Arms XCR Rifle to my own collection this fall.

Elections? You’ve got to be kidding. Anyone who’s counting on free and fair elections hasn’t been paying attention. Or they’re smoking something funny.

You can hear that distant thunder growing closer...

Waiting til Fall so I can get it in .308 and .223. I have a local, very good dealer. He works the gun shows and locals who know him personally. Wild Thang Farms, Kermit Zahm. Excellent price and service. Known him very well for 12 years.
