You said he had to prove it, which he did not. What you're referring to was a non-binding Senate resolution in response to a bogus California suit claiming McCain was not a natural born citizen. And if you read the resolution it gets the circumstances of McCain's birth wrong, so it is an unapplicable, non-binding Senate resolution. Can anything be more worthless than that?

That is true but if he didn’t prove it, they would have clobbered him. It was not a requirement, but it should be for anyone running IMHO.
