If a provision like this passes, it will be the death of private health coverage. Private insurance companies not able to add new members cannot survive long. And if yours is folding, you have only one choice, Obamacare.

These people have no idea what they're doing, and neither do the people who voted them in.

Sometimes, Cincinnatus needs to leave the plow keyboard and march to war head for Washington.

Of course it will. All protestations to the contrary, if the government wants control of your life, they will take it by force in any way possible.

Gee, who would have guessed it but our BETTERS — the so-called political elites who are running things (slap into the ground) in the country — HAVE EXEMPTED THEMSELVES from the “UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE” they have planned for us PEONS and PEASANTS. They — and their millions of bureaucratic minions — have a VASTLY SUPERIOR healthcare plan.

HEY — The term is UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE. That means it covers the universe, i.e., the ENTIRE POPULATION. EVERYONE is covered by the SAME RULES and NOBODY is LEFT OUT!

If that IS what the Democrat political elites REALLY WANT, here’s the deal:

NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

No members of Congress or ANYONE in the White House running off to Walter Reed or Bethesda for that nasty ingrown toenail, hacking cough and spitting up blood. Take a number and wait in the same line the rest of us are.

That goes for your congressional and White House children and other family members! GET IN LINE!!! That REALLY LONG ONE that ends on the other street.

And if your UNIVERSAL RULES dictate that some life-saving treatment would be too expensive or not be cost-effective for you older members, here’s a twenty (the cost of a phone call once the TARP “money” hits the system) – call someone who cares.

Oh yeah – forgot the best part: If ANY of you are found to be availing yourselves of what idiot representative Fortney “Pete” Stark (as in “raving mad) from (where else) KAHLIFONIA once called “Boutique Medicine” (cute, huh?) by bypassing the universal system, not getting that needed treatment will be the least of your problems.

Use some of those free cell phone long distance minutes and call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and give YOUR congresscritter a piece of your mind while it’s still legal to do so.

And if you’re one of those NPR listeners who thinks “congress is pissing away our grandkids’ legacy (BTW, it;s already GONE!), doesn’t listen to us, wastes our “money,” refuses to close the borders, deport the illegals, etc., etc., ad nauseum — BUT MY CRITTER’S ONE OF THE GOOD GUYS” — check him out at http://www.gradegov.com/. Be sure you’re sitting down.

Stay strong and remember, WE SURROUND THEM! Let’s start acting like it!!

PS: Representative Fleming of Louisiana has introduced a House Resolution REQUIRING ANY MEMBER WHO VOTES FOR UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE TO DROP HIS FULL BENEFIT GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE PLAN AND COME INTO THE NEW PLAN WITH THE REST OF US.

GO TO FLEMING’S SITE AT http://fleming.house.gov/
AND SIGN HIS PETITION (ABOUT MIDWAY DOWN THE PAGE IN THE CENTER).

WHILE YOU’RE ON THE HOUSE SITE, LET YOUR GUY KNOW YOU THINK THAT’S A GOOD THING AND HE NEEDS TO SIGN ON AS A CO-SPONSOR OF FLEMING’S BILL?

Who really like the health insurance industry anyway? They’re just greedy and take your money.

At least we will still live in a free country where I can choose any of hundreds of TV programs to watch.

Yay USA USA USA USA!

House health care bill 'outlaws private insurance'

Despite overwhelming numbers of Americans telling the Congress they don't want government run (lack of) health care, Congress intends to steamroll this through to please their Lord and Master, the MIGHTY O!!!!

Are we ready to take our country AND our GOVERNMENT back, yet??? How many MORE insults to our Constitution will we tolerate from these out-of-control thieves?? How many more times will we allow them to spit on our flag before we declare "enough is enough!!"??

Why are the stupid insurance cos. cooperating with this pile of shit? The AMA plans to amendment it to death in conference, but it may be too late by then. they should have just said nothing.

What high-income nations do NOT have single payer? Singapore? We are seriously looking elsewhere for our children’s future.

Everyone should take note that even if they manage to strip the “public option” out of this plan, they will still be able to drive private insurance out of business within a few short years by inserting “gotcha” provisions like this one.
When a few big carriers go under it will trigger a “crisis”, and the Feds can then ride to the rescue with single payer.

Private health insurance coverage is available EVEN in communist China! And more and more private health clinics are opening (I know of several in Shanghai) that accept private insurance, even from abroad in some cases, and where the health care is known to be superior. More and more private and foreign based dental clinics are opening as well.

So, Obama and the Dems want an American system inferior to that of China!

The premise of this bill is nothing but BS but the quote states "Except as provided in this paragraph..."

What's the rest of the paragraph?

Someone stated on another thread that the rest of the paragraph sets conditions on private insurance but doesn't outlaw it as WND and IBD breathlessly report.

It's important that we KNOW what we're pissed about, lest we look like fools.

That’s ridiculous. Even in Europe where public health insurance is offered, citizens are able to purchase private health insurance in addition to the public insurance policy.

Page 16 is designed to stifle the objection that the rest of the bill does in fact outlaw private insurance: you can keep your beloved insurance - so long as you don’t change anything, the provider doesn’t change anything, and that somehow the provider manages to stay in business and provide the same service for the same cost despite a sudden loss of most clients with no prospects of new customers (save for new dependents).

It is a rhetorical trick designed to answer a concern with a formal positive yet conceal the massive negative. It’s a variation on “malicious obedience” - to wit: “sure I’ll do what you want ... but in a way which you will regret.”

I wonder if Page 16 may be designed as a lightning rod: the opposition will get upset by it, and will be relieved when it is “grudgingly” removed, overlooking the more deeply concealed evils. Sometimes you win a compromise by offering something outlandish, then “settle” for what you really wanted but wouldn’t have gotten if that’s all you asked for in the first place.
