Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is leading Sarah Palin in the early fund-raising race among potential 2012 GOP presidential candidates, raking in a cool $1.6 million in the first six months of the year, new figures show.
Romney, who raised more than any other Republican during his time in the 2008 primary, has continued his torrid pace, more than doubling the $733,000 raised by Palin since Jan. 1.
Romneys Free and Strong America political action committee raised a total of $1,610,019 since Jan. 1 while handing out $74,000 to federal and state GOP candidates nationwide. After expenses, the PAC was left with $841,000 cash, according to a federal campaign finance report filed yesterday.

Let's face it...Willard and his Massachusetts Health Plan failed.
Let's face it. How many hit pieces are the RINOs and Dems running against Willard, anyway?
Let's face it. Sarah is a genuine "citizen-politician" of the type (though not gender) the framers intended.
Let's face it. Romney is an elitist. Save him for SecTreas or somesuch.
Cheers!

Was half of it was his own money that he had laundered through his paid “associates”?Any way, it's pretty stange that someone who has had no media hounds after him, like Palin has, can't do better than that.

Some businessman! Get 1.6M and then after expenses, the PAC was left with $841,000 cash! 75K for other candidates and the rest is operating costs? Sounds like a Democrat.

Gotta wonder how Sarah will do when she ‘starts’ in the fundraising race...
Not bad for someone who isn’t even in the race...

It's interesting how the folks who go rabid about the Palin Hate (which is real) don't seem to see their own Romney Derangement Syndrome symptoms.
I find Romney as interesting as week-old bread, but that doesn't mean he's a socialist. As someone who lives in Massachusetts, I'm no fan of his healthcare thing, either. But the fact is, the people of Massachusetts have been bleating for something like it for a long time, and he responded.
That doesn't excuse his enthusiasm for bringing this mess to the rest of the nation, which brings us back to why I have no enthusiasm for him at all. But I don't get the loathing for a guy who otherwise would be a ten-times-over improvement over Obama. Or McCain, for that matter.

Of course Sarah hasn’t even started “the fund raising race”. She and her people in a way actively discouraged contributions for some time (SaraPAC was described as being for Alaska), encouraged funds to her Defense Fund, and did next to nothing in fundraising.
Romney of course is hitting big donors, and Sarah has not even started going down that path.

I'm with you, fieldmarshaldj. 'Barf' was my reaction too when reading that headline. Oh, and if this helps cherry or anyone, here's a little something I put together on Mitt.

"I find Romney as interesting as week-old bread, but that doesn't mean he's a socialist."
...and yet, he is.
