RIP GOP. It was great knowing you

Dog bites man story.
As I've been asking for weeks on end: What are we going to do after we get government-run healthcare, immigration "reform," EFCA, ENDA, hate crimes, cap-n-trade, etc.?
To: EveningStar
Gee. What’s the point of voting GOP again?

As we all know, this was exactly what we thought it was, a nice little dog and jackazz show.
Waste of time.

They were too scared to even mention her La Raza membership.

the panel's ranking Republican said the GOP would not block a vote on her nomination. Um, WHY NOT?
To: pnh102
The judges were the reason we were supposed to vote GOP.

why are white “republican” politicians such cowards?
If sessions had just stood up and said “I’m going to do everything in my power to try and stop the confirmation of a racist who wants to rewrite the Constitution” he would have been a new STAR in the party.
As it stands, he’s no better than Jim Jeffords

they skeered of being called racist. They never even asked her about La Raza, she’s a member. They too skeered.

Sessions was great during the hearings. The GOP can't stop the nomination, so why bother holding it up with maneuvers that everyone knows will be turned into ‘the GOP hates Hispanics’ propaganda, and which the tone-deaf and ineffectual GOP will be unable to effectively counter. It's better to go for a straight patty line vote and make our feelings about allowing this unqualified bigot onto the Supreme Court.

I'll be there by your side. It's coming to that.
There are very few of us though. Most are still deluded, or think we're just "in a cycle," or are busy calling their reps/senators.
To: EveningStar
Someone on another thread explained that she may not be as bad as many others Obama could name. It is likely that one of the other leftie SCOTUS justices will be forced to step down before the 2010 elections; so that it is better to have let her, a relative moderate, pass through with a little Senate spanking than to risk the resentful jackboot of a more leftist re-nomination.
