The army has revoked Major Stefan Cox's orders to report to Afganistan.
Congressman Billybob
I don’t think you understand. Any serviceman can now challenge his orders if he doesn’t want to go to Afganistan.
It would be an incredible circus - maybe even enough to temporarily revive some ailing newspapers. They should jump on this bandwagon! ;)
They won't. They're socialists and Obeyme's their prince.
You may be right (well, you’re right - they are socialist, and 0 is their prince) - but there are signs of discontent, especially over the economy. Cracks are starting to appear, and a big story like 0’s dethronement will be hard to ignore.
Just because they rescinded his orders, couldn’t he still be court-marshaled for refusing the first orders?
They would spin it as he was driven from office, racism, blah blah.
Probably true.
Not easy if you are professional military. But doable--maybe.
At present, I am inclined to bet they continue to play the game on this side of the table--that is, they will continue to let people off the deployment. We will see how long that lasts.
I will also say that I am personally a little concerned because this is the eighth or ninth time I write here what they will do next and they do it within twenty-four hours.
Because they're reading your posts?
He didn’t refuse the orders, he simply inquired as to their legitimacy.
Biden was voted in by the people.
Like the “Honduran military coup”? Maybe.
Per the above, I suspect they would continue to let people off the deployment order rather than respond.
As I have also said several times, a military officer is the ideal plaintiff. Ideally, a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff--how can the Chiefs proceed without knowing who is the Commander?
What I would have done here is plead that he wasn't Commander in Chief and couldn't issue orders. This could have been the case to bring the issue to a head.
"... poor legal work on the part of our side.
[snip]
"... the prayer for relief should only have said we don't want to follow orders because this guy is not the President and can't issue them.
"We have often and regularly had opportunities to effectively bring this to a legal head and because we don't get sufficient legal horsepower on the target, we lose."
Obama is going to get his comeuppance if other military members are joining this suit that, especially if they are refusing deployment orders.
Biden would be the next in command even if zer0 gets the boot. Biden can then pick who he wants as VP. Remeber after Nixon left, Ford picked out his VP until he got one not compromised like Agnew.
Who knows how this will play out. They may talk the public into chucking that part of the Constitution. They’ve fooled them about the Electoral College and popular vote.
I don’t believe that all is lost. Not yet.
"What I would have done here is plead that he wasn't Commander in Chief and couldn't issue orders. This could have been the case to bring the issue to a head."
IMHO this will open the flood-gates...
