Sarah Palin Doesn't Know What Cap And Trade Is Jay Yarow|Jul. 14, 2009, 8:39 AM|109 PrintTags: Sarah Palin, U.S. Government, Garbage, Carbon, Emissions, Cap And Trade, Energy, Alternative Energy, Politics

Sarah Palin wades into the debate on cap and trade, or as she prefers to call it, cap and tax, today in the Washington Post's editorial pages. Predictably she doesn't like it, but it doesn't appear as though she understands the issue at hand.

"There is no denying that as the world becomes more industrialized, we need to reform our energy policy and become less dependent on foreign energy sources. But the answer doesn't lie in making energy scarcer and more expensive! Those who understand the issue know we can meet our energy needs and environmental challenges without destroying America's economy."

Sarah: “There is no denying that as the world becomes more industrialized, we need to reform our energy policy and become less dependent on foreign energy sources. But the answer doesn’t lie in making energy scarcer and more expensive! Hey Jay, sounds like she has a pretty good handle on it to me.

More liberal BULL EXCREMENT. I know high school kids that know what CAP AND TAX is all about. Sarah recognizes socialist power grabs and radical taxation just as easily as everyone else — except this Obama-pandering writer (notice I did not say journalist)....

Considering that Congress voted on it without ever reading it, I’d wager that Congress doesn’t know what it is, either.

She just uses the usual talking points about jobs being lost, and electric bills rising = REALITY

it’s a possibility that continued CO2 emissions will lead to catastrophic climate change = NO PROOF WHATSOEVER THIS WILL HAPPEN

The question she needs to answer is which is worse (correction, WHICH IS MORE LIKELY).

I’m waiting for someone to let slip the truth that “cap and tax” is merely the next trillionaire creation mechanism for Goldman Sachs ...

"There is no denying that as the world becomes more industrialized, we need to reform our energy policy and become less dependent on foreign energy sources.

Then they should be against the cap and tax bill because it will INCREASE dependence upon foreign supplies of energy. If you increase cost of production in the US the production will move to where the cost is less...overseas. So you lose jobs, increase imports of energy, increase cost of energy, depress the economy and fail to affect any environmental change. Apparently that's the progressive wet dream.

But the answer doesn't lie in making energy scarcer and more expensive! Those who understand the issue know we can meet our energy needs and environmental challenges without destroying America's economy."

And it is clearly not progressives that understand the issue...or economics for that matter.

Palin doesn’t mention CO2 emissions or Global Warming because she understands, as do we all, that this thing is NOT about so-called “Global Warming”. Global Warming is just the bullsh!t excuse they are using to ram it down our throats.

Well, who does, really? Such an odd name. Deliverately chosen, I’m sure ... all the dem names are just attempts to deceive.

But I’m sure Sarah knows exactly what it means.

Pretty weak-azz repy. Looks like even the Greeniesare backing away from the standard "the sky is falling and we're all going to die" hysteria.

Interesting that the "absolute, no discussion allowed" adherence to the "warming" dogma is now:

"...just as it's a possibility that continued CO2 emissions will lead to catastrophic climate change..."

Maybe they're giving up!

‘Cap and trade isn’t about “foreign energy sources.” It’s about staving off global warming. At no point does Palin mention CO2 emissions, rising global temperatures or anything that’s at the core of the legislation.”

What a fool...this is like arguing that one can not write about the ability to inflict damage by a bullett because there is no mention of a gun...it is not relevant to the argument unless one believes the bullett can be inserted manually...he goes on to take her to task for not mentioning sun or wind power...as if they are commonplace and developed technology, enough to help us out of the jam we are in...well, she also failed to mention the ability to power the country by hooking us up to wild teams of donkeys spinning a turbine...what a fool...

“Cap and trade isn’t about “foreign energy sources.”

Oh yes it is. As soon as we apply taxes to energy production, some/many producers will either fold or move overseas, exploration and development in the US will decrease. Job losses. Reduction in GDP growth. Increase in costs.

Now, sure, over time we can develop alternative energy sources. Expensive ones, unless its nuclear (and palin has said that). But same thing, a second wave, loss to GDP growth, jobs, cost.

Both happen.

Sarah is correct. They are wrong.

If that is the best they can do, well ....

Sarah has a great handle on it. She knows that we need cheap abundant energy and is willing to move in the directions necessary.

She was recently promoting nuclear for her state. So she’s clearly not putting all her cards on North Slope Oil. But neither is she betting the farm on wind and solar like Obama.

She uderstands and states exactly what the real meaning of Cap and Trade would be. The leftists, libs, dems, and RINOs want to hide and mask the meaning in platitudes and double speak. They know if the truth is know that the American people will not buy it...or ignore it.

Sarah gets to the point...and she is spot on.

What the real issue here is, is that Sarah initiated a brilliant flanking manuever and counter attack against the left, the libs, the DNC, the MSM, and the RINOs that has them all in a frenzy wondering what her next move will be and how it will be perceived...and has them frothing at the mouth in their efforts to discredit her.

But, their efforts will come to naught as Sarah gets her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disaster and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012.

just as it's a possibility that continued CO2 emissions will lead to catastrophic climate change.

I am sick and tired of hearing about Global Warming! CO2 emissions are rising as a natural reaction to a warming period, a warming period that has happened through out the earths history. We are now in a cooling period and those CO2 emissions are coming down. GLOBAL WARMING IS ONLY MAKING AL GORE RICH!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a link about the C02 emissions and a little excerpt.
http://www.globalweathercycles.com/forecast.html

"Mr. Dilley’s research demonstrates that global warming cycles actually occur on a regular basis, with up to 30 global warming cycles during the past 5,000 years alone, and nearly 2,500 occurrences during the past 460,000 years. Mr. Dilley’s research also demonstrates a natural cycle that causes atmospheric temperatures to rise during these cycles, with this rise closely followed by a rise in carbon dioxide concentrations. In other words, temperatures rise first, and then carbon dioxide levels rise in response to a natural feedback system connected to the temperature cycles."
