The Cheney “Scandal”
NRO ^ | Jonah Goldberg

Okay, so I’ve had internet problems and staying abreast of the news has been a problem. So, I’m willing to concede that maybe I’m missing something. But, from what I can tell this Cheney scandal story (much hyped in our little New York Times digest thingamajig), is the mother of all nothingburgers.

It’s hard for me not to see it as a ploy by Democrats to distract from the fact that the stimulus bill is a dud, healthcare is going badly and cap-and-trade looks like a disaster. The base always enjoys beating up on Cheney and the press likes that stuff too.

But, again, let me make sure I'm not missing something. Cheney ordered the CIA to look into sending out squads to kill al Qaeda leaders after 9/11. Call me crazy, but that’s what I assumed they’d been doing all along. I’m far more scandalized that such plans haven’t been up and running for eight years than I am by the fact that Congress wasn’t briefed on a plan that had never been put into action. (I can only hope the plans were tabled because it was determined that cruise missiles and UAVs worked better than CIA assassins). Oh, but wait, Congress was in the loop.

The Cheney “scandal” is about one thing and one thing only.

It is red meat to distract the masses from the economic chaos being generated by the White House and congress.

My father-in-laws family knows Dick Cheney from Wyoming. They must be screw up because they say he is one of the most gracious Westerners they know. Absolutely loves America and loves the West. Now, why would this apparently decent patriotic public servant want to kill Bin Laden? Maybe he should be run out of town, charged, and imprisoned for wanting to protect America from these peace-loving terrorists that killed over 3000 innocent women and chldren of 9/11? I swear and correct me if I’m wrong,. I’m starting to think we elected an al-quada member as President.

The Cheney scandal is no scandal. The real Scandal is Obma taking over the country with his Czars.

The latest being openly Communist> Good Gawd it’s unbelievable.

The very last thing the demoncrats want is to put Cheney on the stand. He always makes them look like cashews! They DO want to keep their nutroots happy, though, and floating the prospect of trying him for something (without really doing it, of course) gets them all atwitter!

I realize this “scandal” is a smokescreen to cover Pelousy’s ridiculous claim, but this “outrage” goes far beyond the stupid boundary. Imagine, our intelligence agency was trying to devise plans to kill those who are trying their best (or worst) to kill us. Gee, what an awful crime, they were trying to defend the country. This latest idiocy from the libs defies belief. But they come up with so many phony, idiotic charges, we just have to wonder : what’s next?
