There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America's unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won't bring jobs. Our nation's debt is unsustainable, and the federal government's reach into the private sector is unprecedented.
Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be:
I am deeply concerned about President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.

Obama is afraid of SP. He will do some misogynist attack as he did during the election.
Gov. Palin wrote an op-ed.
I feel an ethics cpmplaint may be coming soon.
How about...”Cry Havoc!,and let slip the dogs of war.”

While the Post does have major credibility issues, every once in a while they do post some common sense, even from their own editorial board.
I'd have been far more surprised to see this in the NYT.
I know that the overall article was written by Palin. My question was about the "the writer, a republican, is governor of Alaska" part.
Please, tell me what the republican party has had to offer for the last decade?
Conservativism made America a great country, not Republicanism.
If "Republican" equals John McCain in 2008 and G.W.B. the two elections prior to that, then "Republicanism" sucks.
Sarah Palin would be VERY smart to leave the republican part, take the conservatives with her, and try to take America back in the right direction.
It's standard practice for the Post to identify an author by position and political party if they're an elected official.
Cap and trade?
Now you know why Enron had to die.
Haven’t seen this idea expressed very often, but buying and selling nothing is precisely what spelled the end of enron. What a scheme, cap and trade looks like Enron on steroids. With predictable results, AFTER ENRICHING A FEW NOTED PROMOTERS, AND PARTICIPANTS, and without the penalties some of the Enron folks received. Actually the ones penalized the most were the workers, the pension holders, and the investors, the little guy.
A good beginning indeedy.

Please read the comments after her article and FREEP this newspaper with your own!
better yet.......send a letter to the editor.......why bother arguing in the comment section with a liberal idiot?
You asked: “why bother arguing in the comment section with a liberal idiot?”
First, I’m not really arguing with anyone. I’m just supporting for Sarah.
Second, I write my thoughts so that those who are sitting on the fence can consider the merit of my words. It’s free P.R. for Sarah, so why not?
I was once liberal myself, as a youth. I came into the light because I noticed conservatives had better arguments.
I suspect that a letter to the editor would be viewed by more folks......
Doesn’t have to be one or the other. It could be both.
July 26th?
Another Governor Palin position paper. Section 13 seems a bit strange. http://gov.state.ak.us/admin-orders/238.html
Very good article!
I particularly liked the way she explained it in simple, no nonsense terms. She didn’t need the high flying ‘flourishes’ that are so common in the democrat chattering classes these days.
