She Broke the G.O.P. and Now She Owns It
NYT ^ | 7/11/09 | FRANK RICH

Posted on 07/13/2009 2:03:22 PM PDT by Clint N. Suhks

SARAH PALIN and Al Sharpton don’t ordinarily have much in common, but they achieved a rare harmonic convergence at Michael Jackson’s memorial service. When Sharpton told the singer’s children it was their daddy’s adversaries, not their daddy, who were “strange,” he was channeling the pugnacious argument the Alaska governor had made the week before. There was nothing strange about her decision to quit in midterm, Palin told America. What’s strange — or “insane,” in her lingo — are the critics who dare question her erratic behavior on the national stage.

~snip~

Its voice can be found in the postings at a Web site maintained by the fans of Mark Levin, the Obama hater who is, at this writing, the No.2 best-selling hardcover nonfiction writer in America.

Bush was a social conservative for sure. Unfortunately, he was a New England Big government liberal when it came to fiscal policy. RINO half of the time. Kind of reminds me of the Huckster, when I think about it.

Palin’s fault is the new Bush’s fault?

Never really understood how compassionate conservatism differed from liberal theories. He was a new england transplant...but it’s kind off a stretch to say he was a RINO. He was president for 8 years!

Who broke it? Seems to me that John McLame and Lindsay Grahamnesty are the ones who broke the GOP

The Left’s incessant attacks against Sara Palin demonstrate their phobia that she will someday run for President and succeed. I interpret their visceral fear as a good indication that Sara is their antithesis. If the devil isn’t chasing you, it means he already owns you.

Looking back though, he really strayed from Reagan conservative principals. You may be correct that he was a republican. It’s the republicans that strayed from conservatism.

All these ad homiem attacks on Palin are a futility, and only expose the many biases of the authors.

ABSOLUTELY and I hope they never stop as it is having the exact opposite of the effect the authors intend!

I’m far from being a big Sarahlian, but Frank Rich is a Flaming Bundle of Sticks who wishes he looked as good in high heels.

"George W. Bush was a RINO? Really?"

Yes, his spending was nearly as bad as most Democrats. His immigration policy was that of Ted Kennedy. His strength was defense, his weaknesses were fiscal policy and immigration policy.

[Frank needs to get a life. ]

Give it a year. His newspaper, the New York Titanic, has already left port and seems headed to Davy Jones locker.

Frank Rich is such a revolting little weasel.

When they do the movie, Ned Beatty should play Frank...

The GOP ruined itself when it put a RINO like John McCain at the head of the ticket.
