Well, should've seen this coming: conservative blog Free Republic fired hate speech off at Malia Obama after this photo of her appeared, letting their commenters go to town. But the journalist who reported this as news isn't innocent, either.
Chris Parry of The Vancouver Sun highlighted some of the comments on the mainstream, hard right-wing blog/news aggregator Free Republic. Among them, a picture of Michelle talking to Malia Obama with the caption: "To entertain her daughter, Michelle Obama loves to make monkey sounds." Classy. These mouthbreathing, borderline morons then kept piled on:
"A typical street whore." "A bunch of ghetto thugs." "Ghetto street trash." "Wonder when she will get her first abortion. "Could you imagine what world leaders must be thinking seeing this kind of street trash and that we paid for this kind of street ghetto trash to go over there?" wrote one commenter. "They make me sick .... The whole family... mammy, pappy, the free loadin' mammy-in-law, the misguided chillin', and especially 'lil cuz... This is not the America I want representin' my peeps," wrote another. Such was the onslaught of derision on the site that the person who originally complained about the slurs, a Kristin N., claims only one comment in the first hundred posted actually criticized the remarks as inappropriate.
FreeRepublic claims to be a site that "does not advocate or condone racism, violence, rebellion, secession, or an overthrow of the government." Yet, the thread went down, and back up with the original comments in tact, and then some, notes Chris Parry, the story's writer. Parry was careful and kind enough to - maybe unnecessarily - note the few reasonable voices in the crowd who were conservative, on Free Republic, and not racist. But there're always going to be a few exceptions to the rule, which, as far as you should be concerned, are absolute swamp creatures. Pardon any political incorrectness, but I think you'll agree if you happen to go over and dip your toe in what's mostly a bog of contagiously slimy invective and general retardation.
It gets worse, though. Chris Parry, it appears, has advocated on his Daily Kos blog any number of egregious offenses, among them: posting hate speech on sites like Free Republic and blaming it on conservatives. Parry posted under the name "hollywoodoz" on Daily Kos, where his signature was "Fool me once, I'll punch you in the fucking head." Parry outed himself as hollywoodoz here, where he discloses the company he helped start. In essence: Parry, the journalist, found his story right where he'd been circling it for a very long time, and reported it as news. Sigh.
Bottom line: Parry's noble intentions are paving him a road to hell, by taking the same one the slimeball majority at Free Republic employs. They're probably going to cheer a "mainstream," centrist blog pointing out the offenses of a liberal reporter trying to expose hate speech, but they shouldn't get it mixed up. A quick glance at Free Republic and you'll probably see the same thing I did: some of the most egregious examples that lend credence to the idea that some people just shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard, or to open their mouths, no matter what their political affiliation. Or, as some would have it: STFU.
Quite honestly if I had kids below a certain age I might not even let them read FR nowadays, and when my kids were teens they were FReepers (my son still is but he is an adult now).
I got in on a few M.O. fashion threads because I felt we should be giving constructive criticism because whether or not I like them or their politics I want the First Lady to look nice. Also as a woman it makes me cringe to see someone wearing unflattering clothes, and I also like to talk about styles and what looks good on body types etc. But frankly the terrible comments and name-calling were really over the top. About the only funny thing is the pictures of Aunt Esther and that’s only because I loved that show.
There are a lot of new people on FR, especially since the 08 election and I have to question just exactly why many of them are here, because their goal sure does not seem to be to advance the cause of conservatism.

You are pathetically naive, if you do not understand this point.
However, it would be wise to avoid openly racist comments.
It is possible to criticize without racial overtones.
I do not get to tell others what do, and I do not desire to control the expressions of others on this thread or elsewhere.
However, I DO want to beat back these Marxist hypocrites!
And, that will be easier to do if we do not give the enemy ammunition to use against us.
Those who make overtly racial comments DO give the enemy such ammunition.
So, too, unfortunately, the folks on FR and other conservatives who feel a rather cowardly need to apologize or condemn, constantly, every comment that they might like to hear in Church.
This isn't Church.
There is a war on, and people will get hurt.
If the Obama’s want their kids to be left alone, the Obama’s need to quit manipulating public opinion with their kids.
They can NOT have it both ways!
An 11 year old kid wearing a shirt with a peace sign. Yeah that’s a big political statement. The world is on edge waiting for her next pronouncement. Her and the thousands of other little girls wearing anything from Disney to Hello Kitty to Mossimo to Keroppi to Circo and all the other countless brands of girls tops featuring peace signs.
Admit further that you NEVER complained about the Palin family being attacked.
Yes, a peace sign has huge implications, when Obama is negotiating away our missile defense system, when Obama is selling out Israel and not standing up to Iran, when Obama sides with Communist dictators in Venezuela, Cuba or Honduras.
Yes, when a Communist dictator, in Honduras, is legally removed from office and Obama sides with the Communist dictator!
The shirt with the peace sign was chosen, ON PURPOSE, to let the libs in Europe know that Obama would have been on the WRONG side, (The liberal side) during the Reagan fight to put Pershing II mussels in Europe.
Again, I want the attacks to be fair and no racial, but those who enter the political arena are subject to political attack.
End of story.
I prefer my clams raw, but that sounds tasty, too.
“As for implying the Obama kids are fair game? You said they would be off limits if their parents hadnt put them in the limelight. That certainly implies they are not off limits by virtue of their parents actions.”
You are making an accusation here that is far afield from what I actually said, and for people who read what YOU say, but don’t see what you were referring to in the first place, since you did NOT ping me nor reply to my first posting directly is a bit disingenuous.
For those who DIDN”T see it, let me repeat:
>Here is the truth.
The obama children would remain VERY off limits IF their parents were not using them as marketing tools for fashion houses and making money off them. If anyone is exploiting these children, it is their gutter parents who are using them for everything from photo-ops to excuses for other things they do.
For instance, obama visited a 17th century castle in Ghana, (press term later changed to fortress), because he wanted to show his daughters mans inhumanity to man. The implication was that the white British Colonialists were purely at fault for the slave trade out of Africa.
There was not a single mention of the African Tribal raids on neighboring tribes to steal people to be sold into slavery, (black people kidnapping black people,) nor a single mention of the arab muslim traders, (brown people who hate black people to this day,) who ultimately made their fortunes selling human beings as if they were cattle and transporting them to their final destinations which was often death.
If this is the kind of selective history obama intends to teach his children, then we are looking at two future adults who will be equally as racist and anti-American as their parents. That doesnt bode well for the future for them OR for us.
To me, that is child abuse.<
Please explain how that implies I said anything remotely like “they were fair game.” I think what they have done is terrible for these kids. They are making money off them. It is obscene.
“In going back and reading your other post, I am amazed you state that the comments on that thread are no different from what you hear in the real world about inappropriate and/or political kids clothing? Sheesh, what kind of company do you keep that kids are referred to as street ghetto trash and dressing like whores and the other rude comments on that thread?”
Did you actually comprehend what I said, or are you deliberately taking what I said out of context? And if you are, WHY?
I repeat what you have referred to:
>Some of the comments on the Malia thread were no worse than things I have heard about other children in the real world whose parents allow them to dress older than their years or wear political statements they dont agree with. The only difference is they werent being marketed to the world at large and the price of their clothing from hair accessories to footwear werent being advertised down to the cents internationally.
I did not personally comment on the Malia thread. Didnt really think it was worth my time. The images and what they implied stood for themselves. It definitely wasnt because I might have had someone from some lefty blog call me a racist afterward because I really dont care what they think about ANYTHING.<
Again, you have made an assumption that I “hang out” with these people. I actually do not “hang out” with anybody. These are comments I hear from people in places I happen to be. I have heard it at grocery stores and shopping malls, even standing in line at a movie theater, and you probably have too, if you were honest about it. If you have NEVER heard it, then you must lead a very sheltered life.
But you have strayed far from the point of my post, which is simply that falling all over ourselves to apologize for something someone else did and trash each other for the whole shebang, when most of us said or did nothing to deserve it is just what the left does. You aren’t condemning individual posts. You are condemning Free Republic. That is a mighty broad brush you are wielding.
It isn’t fair and you know it. If you do not want your children reading FR, that is your prerogative. But trashing the whole forum is uncalled for.
LOL
Spell check has its limitations,
Eye hear ewe!
“However, it would be wise to avoid openly racist comments.”
I agree. You have shamed me into changing my tagline. That’s about as racist as I get....ever. GOD, I feel SOOOO guilty!!!
Seriously, I do agree that open racism is uncalled for no matter where it comes from. Having said that, I am not willing to put all of Free Republic on someone’s chopping block like what I am seeing from some of these posts.

I didn’t see the thread as being anything but stupid and juvenile. The left will find racism under rocks if they have to. They still retreat to the battles of forty years ago if you challenge some noxious idea of theirs.
They are in power and they want to remain there, and want no one around to publicly disagree with them.
This won’t be the last time we draw their fire, even if we wrote and spoke to each other like Mother Teresa did to her orphans.
Hurling Barf Alert!

To MestaMachine (#175):
AAAAAAAAAAAMEN! Freepers have nothing to apologize for, and trying to disprove a negative is unproductive and unnecessary.
This is an underhanded left-wing set up. Don’t fall into their trap. If Freepers were so racist and bigoted, why would a left-winger have to PRETEND to be a Freeper and write racist and bigoted comments.
The correct move in this situation is EXPOSE this Parry and any other lefty infiltrators for who they are.
Apologize for nothing and tell these underhanded lefties to stick it where the sun don’t shine!
Gee whiz if it ain’t Miss comprehension herself. Nighty-night.
I ain’t going there. I went there once. It’s an overflowing septic tank. Had to disinfect my poor mouse.
