I doubt Obama remembers that, or very many his age. Maybe he read about it, or saw the old black and white film clips about it. But that was mostly done in the '50s and early to mid-'60s. He was born in 1961, and attended school out of the US for his first few years.

Sounds like he was making it at Columbia as he does today.
