I lived in Canada for seven years. A sizable minority of the population is extremely jealous of the US, as well as amazingly insecure about their own nation. The government reinforces those feelings by requiring "Canadian Content" as a condition of telecom licensing. Radio and TV MUST have a certain percentage of Canadian talent, programming and music.
