Obama doesn't want to look back, but Attorney General Eric Holder may probe Bush-era torture anyway.
Newsweek ^ | July 11, 2009 | Daniel Klaidman

Posted on 07/12/2009 5:17:49 AM PDT by blueyon

It's the morning after Independence Day, and Eric Holder Jr. is feeling the weight of history. The night before, he'd stood on the roof of the White House alongside the president of the United States, leaning over a railing to watch fireworks burst over the Mall, the monuments to Lincoln and Washington aglow at either end. "I was so struck by the fact that for the first time in history an African-American was presiding over this celebration of what our nation is all about," he says. Now, sitting at his kitchen table in jeans and a gray polo shirt, as his 11-year-old son, Buddy, dashes in and out of the room, Holder is reflecting on his own role. He doesn't dwell on the fact that he's the country's first black attorney general. He is focused instead on the tension that the best of his predecessors have confronted: how does one faithfully serve both the law and the president?

You’re right, BUT remember ,a large part of the support for these lunatics is from non-producers anyway, and they don’t care what the gubymint does as long as they get their handout.

Bob Beckel told Dana Perino and the Friends that the Dems are not going after Cheney to distract from the economy...according to Bob, it’s Cheney who keeps inserting himself in the news. (rolling eyes) Bring it on, Barry!

This is a lose lose for the democrats. People in the end, want to be safe and they understand what Bush and Cheney did. Only a small small SMALL portion of this country cares more about the terrorists rights.

It will cause many independents alreeady wary of Nobama to question his priorties. (Notice how they frame it - Obama is against it). Not to mention, Bush is looking better and better every day.

Bingo! It's all to help stop Obama's slide.

If they do it, it will backfire.

The very next thread... http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2290802/posts
...”Is Obama’s vow of public debate on health care fading?”

Makes you wonder. Maybe 0bama knows he has gone as far as he should with the agenda, and now, just to keep looting unnoticed, he needs to demonize the previous administration and start distracting us with show trials.

He seems to be inviting a General — or someone, anyone who’s decisive — to run against him in 2012. I don’t think he’ll divert much attention from the economy. If someone can’t pay the bills they don’t care if terrorists were being waterboarded personally in the Oval Office by some ex-president.

A sad truth. : (

And their vested interest lies in perpetuating democrat fraud, leaving us with the prospects of corrupted elections from ACORN types in perpetuity.

News-weak goofs again...
At one extreme looms Alberto Gonzales RFK, who allowed the Justice Department to be run like Tammany Hall The Mafia and his daddy's Bootlegging operation. At the other is Janet Reno, whose righteousness and folksy eccentricities marginalized her within who let Eric Holder run rampant, was the de facto AG, and was a complete lackey for the Clinton administration.

There, fixed it.

“0bama doesn’t want to look back, but AG Holder may ….”

B.S. If POTUS really doesn’t want to look back, that would be that. If Holder is disobeying, ask for his resignation. Zer0 is a lying punk, without the courage to state this is his policy and orders.

Meanwhile in other news, the AG is freeing criminals and subverting state constitutions:

Yep, plus listen to recent sound bites. The Southern drawl/lazy speech pattern is back.

People gave him a chance and he blew it early on. Fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me.

No one likes to be played a fool, and incumbents want to be re-elected. Not a good combination for Obama right now.

Don’t believe for one minute that Obama and Holder arent in this together.

Obama is trying to lie around on the perimeter, but he is calling the shots.

This is dirty Chicago politics and Soetoro is an expert.

It took all of 7 months. Congratulations, Zero. . .you killed the American Republic. 1776-2009, may it rest in peace.

Because by trying to criminalize policy decisions, you just guaranteed that your replacement will try you. . .and his replacement will try him.

Thus, lies Empire, not Republic anymore. . .

They keep bringing up Bush, people are going to start thinking, “I wasn’t nearly as afraid in general as I am now. Afraid of the economy, afraid of terrorism, afraid of nukes being lobbed at us by North Korea...”

This will backfire. They can say all day that this is “Bush’s fault”, but the country only had a few weeks literally to feel the panic of bank failures under Bush, but as time goes on Obama will be the one in their mind as their fears and jobless pain continues.

Obama probably learned this from his mentor Al-Qadhafi. This IS the sort of thing that dictators do. Dictators use lawyers and judges to discredit, imprison, or execute their predecessors. This process has the useful effect of causing any political opposition to think-twice about EVER speaking out against the dictator. Obama can deny it, but he is using the US AG, who is Obama’s appointee and rabid political supporter, who is doing Obama’s will.

If you read the story, his wife is described as a militant type, who grew up in the "Deeep South under Jim Crow." For Newsweak to mention this you know she's carrying one big chip.

His wife, at first, is more guarded. She grew up in the Deep South under Jim Crow—her sister, Vivian Malone Jones, integrated the University of Alabama—and has a fierce sense of right and wrong. At a recent dinner in a leafy corner of Bethesda, Malone drew a direct line from the sins of America's racial past to the abuses of the Guantánamo Bay detention center.

"His parents are from the West Indies..he experienced a kinder, gentler version of the black experience," she says.

Enough said.
