PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island's governor has vetoed a bill that would let 16- and 17-year-olds register to vote.
It's the fourth time that Gov. Don Carcieri has vetoed the legislation.
The bill would have let teens "pre-register" to vote, with their registration automatically becoming active when they reach 18.
Rep. Edwin Pacheco, D-Burrillville, who introduced the House measure, has said enrolling teens would help get more of them involved in the political process.
Carcieri says the current law, which allows teens to register if they are eligible to vote by the next election, has served the state well.
The governors says the bill would prematurely add thousands of ineligible names to the voter registry. He says that would be "counterintuitive and counterproductive" for the system.

Isn't this special. I'd keep an eye out for this kind of thing in the future. Just when you think Democrats have out did themselves with ACORN you have this.

Sounds like a plan or maybe only those who don’t receive most of their money from working or leaching off the government.

So basically they want to guarantee voter registration to teenagers not yet eligible to vote— a step that would presumably involve party affiliation— with the specious goal of raising political awareness. Do they really think that any kid who is willing to pre-register at age 16 would somehow forget to register by age 18, when it’s actually legal?

Typical Democrats. It’s appropriate that their party logo is a jackass.

Hmm. Well, that would get rid of a lot of the Dems’ welfare rolls support, but what if leftist property-owners outnumber conservatives? And what’s to stop Soros et al from “donating” money so certain groups would be eligible?

Rep. Edwin Pacheco, D-Burrillville, who introduced the House measure, has said enrolling teens would help get more of them involved in the political process. Typical Dem straw man argument. With that logic why not register 13,14, 15 year olds or younger?
Of course the Dems know they could utilize their voter fraud allies to make hay by registering teenagers that would be still ineligible by the next election.

Too bad he is term-limited. Can anyone say “Governor Chafee?” I have a sick feeling that is coming.

I think it's time to let imaginary friends have the vote.
They're just as real as Obama's majority.

Now that would suck. Hopefully Carcieri will stick around and run for Senate.

These little pantloads nowadays can barely get through high school without ending up pregnant or learning to read beyond a fourth grade level. I've had enough of gaddamned Leftist parasites deliberately destroying this nation in their craven lust for power - I want to know how we can have these SOB's declared a threat to national security and herded onto a reservation. They are
mentally diseased and need to be removed from this society.

I know the feeling. I hate the feeling but I know it. We are facing an enemy within of irrational, immoral, infantile, hedonists who see liberty as defined by their ability to be entertained.
