CLAIMS that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has Jewish roots are making the rounds in the Middle East, stemming from a blog published by the son of a prominent pro-Ahmadinejad cleric.
Mehdi Khazali, whose reformist politics differ sharply from those of his clerical father, Abu al-Kassam Khazali, wrote on his website that Mr Ahmadinejad had changed his family name on his ID card from Saburjian, which, Dr Khazali said, suggested a Jewish background.
The younger Dr Khazali, director of the Hayyan Cultural Institute in Tehran, was reportedly among those arrested during the protests that followed the June 12 Iranian elections. Reports said he was summoned to a special court dealing with religious figures and transferred to an unknown location. Dr Khazali's father is a former member of the powerful Guardian Council.
Four years ago, Britain's The Guardian newspaper interviewed relatives of Mr Ahmadinejad and was told the family had changed its name "for a mixture of religious and economic reasons" but a Jewish angle was not mentioned.
Dr Khazali's allegation was first made on his blog in January but it surfaced into prominence only during the election campaign. One of the candidates running against Mr Ahmadinejad, reformist Mehdi Karroubi, said during their television debate: "My full name is Mehdi Karroubi. What's yours?"
According to an al-Arabiya television report, Mr Ahmadinejad gave his name but left out a surname that could indicate Jewish ancestry. The report did not say what that surname was.
The allegation spread beyond Iran. Bahrain's oldest newspaper, Akhbar al-Khaleej, was shut down for two weeks when it printed the claim.
Those inclined to believe the story say it would explain the vehemence with which Mr Ahmadinejad denies the Holocaust and why he repeatedly calls for Israel's disappearance -- a desire to distance himself from any suggestion of a

And Hitler loved Jews too.
And so did Hitler.
Stone him...no sarcasm.
His real name is Sabourchian. It hints more towards an Azeri or Armenian background. The official claim has him as a Taleshi. I doubt that. I think Azeri/Armenian ancestors. If Armenian this would mean they at some point converted to Islam. He certainly is not a real Persian. From his face, I’d put him more eastwards. He has something Afghan about him. Probably a mutt. LOL.
I think around Christ’s time, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon...the bulk of the mideast WAS jewish (Sure there were animists and moonworshippers as well).
So its very easy to be possible....plausible....and probable.
But then again whether true or not, maybe they are spreading this rumor to set him up for a whacking!
Nothing ever definitive was ever determined I don't believe, but it is certainly possible that both Hitler and Ahmadinejad had/have a loathing for their ancestry and sought/seek to distance themselves from it in the most pathological way possible.
For what it's worth - this from Wikipedia:
Estimates of the Jewish population in Iran vary. In mid- and late 1980s, it was estimated at 20,00030,000, rising to around 35,000 in mid-1990s,[26] and estimated at less than 40,000 nowadays, with around 25,000 residing in Tehran.
And when he nukes Israel he’ll consider himself a real mensch.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ‘Jewish ancestry’

Well, that rumor has been circulating for a long time now. However, it hasn’t stopped Ahmadinejad from wanting to destroy Israel and kill all Jews in the world...

You are right, the "Persian-ness" is low. The nose is hooked like it is with the Arabs. I'd bet on his ancestors to have come from Oman, or the Balochistan area- both places have people from the same Arab stock.
Iran until the 7th century was overwhelmingly Zoroastrian.
Also during Christ’s time (the three wise men from the East were Magi’s, Zoroastrian priests).
But yeah the Jewish Diaspora in Iran was one of the largest and is one of the oldest in the world.
There were hundred thousands more before 1979.
So does Mo Ham Head
And they think it's hilarious.
Dunno. It’s not the nose. Large noses are typical for Persians (the Gilani and Mazanderani Persians from the Caspian shore were largely untouched by the various invaders, and they have very prominent noses.)
It’s his complexion, and general facial appearance that has me thinking too about Baloochistan/Sistan or somewhere south-eastwards.
But as I said the name Sabourchian is likely of Azeri-Turkish or Armenian origin. He probably has mixed ancestry.
Check it out with the Mormons!
Mulekite?
"The Lord has not fully revealed his purpose in leading this remnant, including a surviving heir to Davids throne, out of Jerusalem to be reunited with another chosen remnant, the Nephites."

Okay... these are the loony Neturei Karta anti-Israel Jews... but the pics fit well with the rumor. LOL.
He can’t be Jewish. He isn’t wearing a hat. He’s probably Irish. They’re always getting into politics. No wonder he changed his name.
