On Wednesday, Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan announced his country will ask the UN Security Council to discuss the ethnic rioting that has scarred Chinas Xinjiang region this week. Then he upped the rhetoric. The incidents in China are, simply put, a genocide, Erdogan said on Friday. Theres no point in interpreting this otherwise.
On July 5, a peaceful demonstration by the local Uighurs,Turkic Muslims, apparently triggered a savage reaction by Chinese police, and that led to bloody clashes between enraged Uighurs and Hans, members of the majority ethnic group in China. The disturbances started in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, and radiated outward to at least a half dozen cities, especially remote Kashgar.
Of course, Turkeys request will go nowhere: Beijing wields a veto on the UNs top body. Turkey, on the other hand, is just a nonpermanent member. Yet if this were not just a matter of power politics, there would be plenty for the Security Council to consider. The Uighurs, unfortunately, are one of the worlds last colonized people.
For hundreds of years, they have tried to free themselves from the rule of Chinese emperors, presidents, and general secretaries....

Give the Islamic fundamentalists something to do. The Chicoms will not be very accommodating.
Er, which side are we supposed to be on?
What could the Turks possibly know about genocide? Oh wait ...
Yea OK, not a word about all the murders and damage that they Uighurs took part in. Hopefully one day the West will wake up and stop falling for the Muslims are the victims con.
We’re supposed to be on the side of peoples seeking independence and self-determination.
The ‘Muslim world’ never shuts it’s big yap.
The side of the innocent regular people caught between violent religious control freaks and violent government control freaks.
China, via its type government, fully understands how to deal with Islamic fundamentalism and radicalization: with the use of complete and crushing force. Their philosophy is that if you ‘nip the problem in the bud’, you then can easily deal with a problem when it is still relatively small and/or ineffectual.
Save for future reference.
My thoughts exactly. No fan here of the Commies , but Erdogan of all people labeling the takover of that Turkic province genocide?
Commies vs Muslims
what a quandry
Yes, death of 150 people in the Xinjiang province is genocide. There are nearly 20 MILLION people living in Xinjiang, meaning this “genocide” was 0.00075% of the total population.
Of course, Turkey - with a modern day population of 70 million - eliminated 1.5 million armenians back in 1915. And that’s NOT genocide, according to the turks.
Muslims - for clinging to religion that supposedly invented modern mathematics, they get a lot of basic division and equalities wrong!
But neither side fits that particular definition
It’s said that their was blood quite literally running in the streets especially in Baku and places like that. I’m not expert, but that’s what I’ve heard.
Like most places in the world, the Chinese Muslims are the most backward within their own country.
Follow-up fun statistic:
Chicago has 9.5 million people, about half of Xinjiang province. In 2008, there were 508 homicides within Chicago. So if 150 deaths inside of a population of 20 million is genocide, what is it when you have SEVEN TIMES more murders?
I guess the Obamassiah comes from the genocidal city of Chicago!
While I hate to see women and children (and pets) killed, this is the rule, not the exception, of mankind. The USA is the exception and even we had a brutal civil war. Peace through strength.

From The Times
July 10, 2009
“Search for Han Chinese sister whose family were butchered by Uighurs”
SNIPPET: “As The Times stood outside what is left of No 447 Zhongwan Street, a Han neighbour approached. She had watched the killings from her home in an apartment block overlooking the store.
We saw hundreds of Uighurs running down the street on the afternoon of July 5. About ten suddenly rushed into the store. They began to hit the people inside, even the old mother, with bricks and stones. They tried to run outside. Then they were dragged back inside.
There were terrible screams. Just wordless screams. But then very quickly they fell silent.
She said that the son tried to hide in a chicken coop but was dragged out and his head was cut off. All the victims were left to burn inside the building. The corpses of the boy and his father were found beheaded. Mr Yu said: Even the 84-year-old mother was stoned and then burnt. It was terrible, terrible. So cruel.”
