ANCHORAGE, Alaska | Brushing aside the criticisms of pundits and politicos, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said she plans to jump immediately back into the national political fray stumping for conservative issues and even Democrats after she prematurely vacates her elected post at month's end.
The former Republican vice-presidential nominee and heroine to much of the GOP's base said in an interview she views the electorate as embattled and fatigued by nonstop partisanship, and she is eager to campaign for Republicans, independents and even Democrats who share her values on limited government, strong defense and "energy independence."
"I will go around the country on behalf of candidates who believe in the right things, regardless of their party label or affiliation," she said over lunch in her downtown office, 40 miles from her now-famous hometown of Wasilla population 7,000 where she began her political career.

I think after reading the Tammy Bruce article which I stated above, I think she is gonna create her own Independent Conservative Movement. Some may not believe that is a good idea, but you know what, I do. I am a Conservative, I don’t have any party affiliation. The Republican party abandoned all of us a long time ago. Look at them, look at what they have become, they bash Sarah Palin more then Dems do. When I watch TV to see the commentary, I expect snide remarks from Dems, but when they come from so-called Republicans too I am perplexed. A recent poll came out which showed that this country is becoming more Conservative. I know many Democrats who absolutely despise Barack Obama and have switched to the Conservative movement. I think if Sarah creates her own party, watch out, it will be huge. Will it make a huge difference in 2012, who knows, but I will be a part of it. I’d rather support someone who gives a damn about COUNTRY then someone who has a cute little R next to their name and kisses Obama’s ass
Would conservativegreatgrandma vote for Obama if he switched and became a Republican (more like a super RINO)?
As long as the Democrats join with Sarah on advancing the core issues that she supports, then that's fine by me. The other issues we can deal with down the road.
I am shocked how so many are worshiping Palin to the point theyve turned off their critical thinking.
Enthusiastic support for someone who is unabashedly conservative does not equate to worshipping.
I think you're misreading her a bit. I don't read that in what she says.
Hello, Mittbot. How's the Socialized health care working for you?
Folks we must never forget there are 3 branches of government. Sarah is NOT talking about supporting the Marxist Obama and his merry men and women. What she is talking about is supporting men and women in the LEGISLATIVE BRANCH (probably more the House than Senate)who if elected would vote with the other conservative members of the GOP. There may be only a handful, but that’s not the point-what Sarah does is instantly broaden her fundraising capability and her tent without having even set one foot on the campaign trail yet and finally it puts her completely in tune with the Tea Party movement.
Stop being mossbacks and think a huge tent of CONSERVATIVES, and stop associating conservative or Reagan Democrats from Obama if Sarah is in charge.
By the way a lady to the Michael Dukes show called Sarah the ‘leader of the FREE world’. This is one step to prove that she is.
The worst of Palin beats the best of Hillary or any other lib any day of the week.
The only thing she's abandoning is the corrupt, self-serving, globalist RINO Party.
It’s good to be the king...but it’s great to be the kingmaker!
If it’s Palin...I’m on it.
Conservative democRAT voters, not those running for seats. sheeeeesh
Again, baloney. I saw a poll which said there were more conservatives than either republicans or democrats. Both parties are broken. It will not help any conservative to vote for someone just because they have an R after their name.
And this is why the GOP is done(At least for now) Sarah sees the writing on the wall, she ain’t no dummy. The GOP will do whatever necessary to elect Mitt Romney as their nominee in 2012, and Obama will win in a landslide if that happens, why, simple, is there any difference between RomneyCare and Obama’s Universal Health Care plan, I’m not seeing much of a difference. Sarah wants NO part of the GOP, and neither do I. Screw them, bunch of backstabbers(not all of them, but most of them) who care more about appeasing to Obama then trying to save this country
Exactly. Palin is making some brilliant strategy moves.
Let the Democrats get saddled with the misery they've created.
Future scenario: "I offered to join anyone with viable solutions for this country's future and no Democrats came forward."
There once were many Coservative Democrats. For many years and decades the overwhelming majority of the Texas Delegation to the House and Senate were Conservative Democrats.
There was virtually no Republican Party in the State worthy of the name until the sixties. Republican Senator John Tower was elected to the Senate to replace LBJ in a special election in 1961 and was the first Republican elected in Texas since “Reconstruction”.. Tower went on to become one of the most Conservative members of the Senate and even joined the Conservative Democrats in their filibuster agains the so-called “Civil Rights” Bill.
This set the stage for a Republican takeover of not only Texas but most of the entire South.
What happened was that over a period of years, practically all of the Conservative Dems simply moved en-masse over to the Republican Party Thus enabling the Pubby takeover.
To this day, there are rural location where Conservative Democrats are firmly entreched in local offices.
Why in the world would you support a liberal like Mitt? He will never get my vote.
Respectfully, I think you're missing the larger point. Irrespective of how Democrats describe themselves as conservative in some fashion or another, once they get to Congress, they don't vote that way, especially when it really counts.
What's more, is that those allegedly conservative Dems vote for, or caucus with, insanely liberal Committee chairman. That's what people don't seem to understand; It's not how you vote in Congress or the Senate that counts, it's who you vote for. It's the House and Senate leadership positions along with the individual committee chairman that control what happens in the respective houses, not the individual members.
If there was a "conservative Democrat" that actually caucused with the Republicans, fine. But, I can't think of any that are currently there. And, if they said that they would, they'd be beaten handily in their primaries.
