WASHINGTON — Supporters of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor are quietly targeting the Connecticut firefighter who's at the center of Sotomayor's most controversial ruling.
On the eve of Sotomayor's Senate confirmation hearing, her advocates have been urging journalists to scrutinize what one called the "troubled and litigious work history" of firefighter Frank Ricci.
This is opposition research: a constant shadow on Capitol Hill.
"The whole business of getting Supreme Court nominees through the process has become bloodsport," said Gary Rose, a government and politics professor at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.

Well, reporters Doyle and Lightman, who exactly are these “supporters” who are “quietly targeting” a private citizen?
Do any of those “supporters” have a connection with the La Raza bunch in Colorado who murdered 7 people with poorly designed bombs?
That remains to be seen. For the most part they got a pass on Joe the plumber. The Repubs in congress have still not demonstrated any willingness to fight back on the same level.
Personally, I think any of us that believe they will (fight back) are demonstrating a form of abused wife syndrome. They betray us over and over by mealy mouth acceptance of these lib actions and with each uglier and more hateful one, we say that this is the last one, they come to their senses, no more betrayals. Well, it has been a very long time since I expected anything from the Republican Party, and I haven't been disappointed.
It's about retribution! That's how Democrats play, and with the media as their henchmen, it's now standard procedure.
The “politics of personal destruction” raises its ugly head once again. This is a sure sign of desperation.

Anita Hill was brought in to personally defame Thomas, with no evidence on top of that. This man has done nothing of the sort. Simply being a party in a lawsuit that she, as a judge, heard. Only sick, evil people can take her racist jurisprudence and turn that into his fault.

I wouldn’t doubt that the man had other things to complain about considering why he had to to take his case all the way to the SCOTUS.
