Forced abortions. Mass sterilization. A "Planetary Regime" with the power of life and death over American citizens.
The tyrannical fantasies of a madman? Or merely the opinions of the person now in control of science policy in the United States? Or both?
These ideas (among many other equally horrifying recommendations) were put forth by John Holdren, whom Barack Obama has recently appointed Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and Co-Chair of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology -- informally known as the United States' Science Czar. In a book Holdren co-authored in 1977, the man now firmly in control of science policy in this country wrote that:
Women could be forced to abort their pregnancies, whether they wanted to or not; The population at large could be sterilized by infertility drugs intentionally put into the nation's drinking water or in food; Single mothers and teen mothers should have their babies seized from them against their will and given away to other couples to raise; People who "contribute to social deterioration" (i.e. undesirables) "can be required by law to exercise reproductive responsibility" -- in other words, be compelled to have abortions or be sterilized. A transnational "Planetary Regime" should assume control of the global economy and also dictate the most intimate details of Americans' lives -- using an armed international police force.
Impossible, you say? That must be an exaggeration or a hoax. No one in their right mind would say such things.
Well, I hate to break the news to you, but it is no hoax, no exaggeration. John Holdren really did say those things, and this report contains the proof. Below you will find photographs, scans, and transcriptions

As Christ would say:
"Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
BRILLIANT, spot on, and nominated for Post of the Day.
Also, what if the original "feminists," when shrieking over "double standards" had, instead of lowering behavior expectations for women, had instead insisted on the raising of behavior standards for men? How different would the world look today?
Oh wait, that would not have accomplished the actual goal of the left, which is unbridled hedonism. Never mind....
In my graduate studies I learned that raising the level of education for women also lowers the birth rate. Aborting or seizing children is an inhumane endgame; instead, women need more of those types of microeconomic programs that empower them to start small businesses, educate their children, and contribute more to the family than only being a brood mare.
I certainly agree with your last point; however, Christianity has been under increased attack for a century, with missionaries forbidden to bring sanitation, farming, etc because they also want to teach gospel. We would have to talk about individual nations that are poor and Christian -- perhaps you are talking about South America, where Marxists have infected the Catholic Church with "liberation theology" (communism) and caused something other than Christianity to be taught.
Take a dirt nap, Mr. Holdren. For the good of the planet.
being a climate specialist is meaningless.
EVERYONE should just declare themselves to be a climate specialist and environmentalist.
(know how to work an a/c? presto you are a climate specialist. Take out the garbage? presto you are an environmentalist.)
Drop the word "Catholic" and your description of this particular influence of evil in "South America" would also fit the south side of Chicago.
“That is the only problem I have with excess population, it makes it more difficult to keep government in check.”

There it is! Freedom cannot exist in densely populated countries, I am convinced of that. True freedom is only for those who are capable of living where there are few people.
Have you ever taken a drive through the USA west of the Missippi and east of the West Coast?? This country is practically half EMPTY.”
Lots of the food YOU eat comes from that area you think is empty!!!!
Hard to see from 35,000 feet in an airplane while you are watching the coast to coast movie!!
Another disciple of Earth First! and Forman.
And I'm damn thankful for it too. And I mostly drive through most of that territory.
Neither liberals nor Christians should engage in hypocracy. ;-)
