When Michael Jackson died in late June, Patricia Becht's younger children asked her about his ranch, Neverland. It was a place for kids to go, she told them, and it was similar to heaven. Going to such a place, she said, would be part of their suicide plan.
Becht, of South St. Paul, was charged Friday with first-degree premeditated murder of her 10-year-old son and attempted first-degree murder of her 11-year-old daughter, who is recovering at a metro hospital. Becht gave them and herself an overdose of anti-psychotic medication, court documents say.
She had planned her acts so meticulously that she had a "to do" list for the day before she launched her plan, investigators say.
Police, summoned Monday evening to the home by a relative, found Erica Becht in grave condition downstairs and Michael Vonheath Becht dead in an upstairs bedroom. Patricia Becht was in a bathroom, vomiting.

Are you sure it wasn’t because they lost all their freedoms due to the Bush spy program?
Palin is merely a pawn. Rove is the brains in the outfit.
I thnk it goes a little further than Michael Jackson. He didn’t ask her to kill herself or her children.
That woman was a mother from Hell. And even looked frightening.
Did you listen to the Palin-Jackson conspiracy theory promoted on Sharpton’s radio program?
This is as plausable as Al’s caller’s claim.....
Oh, for the love of all things not yet under the government’s control! What a freaking nutcase!
Don’t guess she’ll be awarded Mother of the Year, 2009.
Hang her
What an absolutely positively inconceivable thing to do.
They think she might be nuts.
YaThink??
Of COURSE she’s nuttier than a fruitcake! People like her have no business walking the streets, and should not be anywhere near children. We need to get back to the idea of hospitalizing psychotic patients as we used to do before ACLU’ers and lefty nutbag judges decided people had a “constitutional right” to walk around howling at the moon.
This woman was clearly mentally ill. God help and bless her surviving daughter.
They say it could take up to two months to figure out her mental state?
Come on.....
About two weeks ago, she allegedly confided in her niece about a plan to lock her two younger children in the garage and start the car in order to kill all of them.
The 23-year-old niece did not report the threat to authorities, Backstrom said.
I don’t think I could stand myself had I heard the threat, and not done anything.
It is truly amazing that so many of these tragedies could have been stopped if someone had come forward with this sort of information.
We hear these stories all the time.....
I can’t blame this one on Jackson, to be fair.
People want a Savior so badly. Why don’t they look to Jesus? Why Michael Jackson, etc.?
That's why I did the (after the thread title) thing.
My theory is just as plausible as those broadcast on Sharpton’s airwaves.
My guess would be that God left rules (Commandments) that were to be kept. A modern messiah requires nothing more than a followers devotion (and perhaps money).
Yes, I thought even Al was sighing over that one. It sounded like he couldn’t get rid of her fast enough.
He should have hit the dump button. Any conservative talk host that would have permitted similar comments to air would have lost their jobs amid outcry from the usual band of liberal whiners.
He was fortunate enough to be heading into a planned break. He let her have her say and then snickered off to commercials.....
