POTUS meets PETER: Pope Defends the Dignity of Life
Catholic online ^ | 7/10/09 | Deacon Keith Fournier

Posted on 07/10/2009 11:37:54 AM PDT by tcg

However, the real story was broken by Cindy Wooden of the Catholic News Service. She reported that Pope Benedict XVI gave his own gift to the U.S. President, a copy of the extraordinary document entitled “Dignitas Personae” (”The Dignity of a Person”). This instruction is a passionate defense of the dignity of every single human life from the moment of conception until natural death.

...Wooden reports that she was in the Vatican bookstore prior to the arrival of the President of the United States and, in her own words “While I was trying to pay, the cashier was interrupted by a phone call and she made me wait while she went to the shelves. She pulled the last two English copies of the document off the shelf and put them on her desk.Msgr. Georg Ganswein, the pope’s personal secretary, told reporters the document would help Obama understand the church’s reasoning behind its efforts to protect human life at every stage of its development.”

Many have speculated as to what would occur in this meeting. Some had the audacity to criticize the Holy Father for meeting with US President at all because of the President’s failure to recognize the preeminent Human Right to Life. However, in the words of a dear Protestant friend of mine “This Pope knows how to Pope!” Pope Benedict XVI met his guest, showed him the love of Christ and offered him the Truth, the greatest gift one can ever give. The Instruction presented to the US President contains a profound defense of the dignity of every human life, a call to respect the goods and ends of marriage and insists on the necessity of having authentic moral criteria within which to evaluate all alleged advances in medical science.

Obama said he would read it on the plane, so he could better understand how Catholics think. No joke.

Obama's vote on Partial Birth Abortion, his vote in IL on live birth abortions, his providing fedeaal funds for abortion, and his avid support of FOCA (Freedom of Choice Act), all combine together to tell you that Obama is an abject liar when he tells the Pope he wants to "reduce" abortions..

But the Pope knows that already about the man and its why he gave him the gift he did today.

Bacrock - I’ll let you understand how this Catholic thinks. I think you need to resign because you suck.

He “jokingly” said he’d read it on the plane. In other words, he views it as a flyer to read in the Air Force One john, and then, upon landing, toss in the trash on the way thru the exit. (wouldn’t be surprised if it were rolled into a ball and tossed on the floor for the AF1 cleaning crew).

Love this photo.

Pope Benedict XVI's aide, Georg Gaenswein, warns of attempts to Islamise the west.

Yep, I agree. He'll probably toss it away with the same lack of regard as is given to the thousands of babies that are trashed every day in America.

Why are they holding necklaces?

Bringing gifts to their wives maybe?

Not sure if you are trying to make a joke or not, but they are holding rosaries and praying.

They are saying the Rosary. Those are Rosary beads. Touching photo, actually.

Saying the Rosary is tonic. The repetition, the rhythm of it, contemplation of the mysteries, the joys, and the sorrows.

A shame they don’t have Rosaries at funerals unless you are Catholic. I understand why they don’t. It’s a shame nonetheless.

They are praying to necklaces?

What kind of south-seas mumbo jumbo is that?

Better to pray to God if you ask me.

LOL. Not praying, keeping track of prayers. Use that handy dandy Internet search function, and look it up.

***Why are they holding necklaces?

Maybe they’re praying for the souls of non Christians.

Yes, I too hope the Jews will repent and get right with the Lord.

The Jews are the Chosen People. I do not despair of them as much as I despair of all those who cry Lord, Lord...

The Jews are the Chosen People

And what are the Christians?

See, there was this whole NEW covenant, and folks who do not
believe in Jesus are screwed. That would be the Jews there spunky.

Shall I quote you some scripture to prove non-believers are toast or will you die quietly?

The Jews are the Chosen People.

Chosen to fail, maybe. They do not believe in Jesus as the savior.

Read the Word:

John 14:6

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Argue with Jesus.

Go on, I want to see you do it.
