One day after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced she would leave office by the end of July, Palin's attorney blasted what he said were "false and defamatory" claims on the Web about why Palin is resigning. Palin's legal counsel warned that if Internet posters didn't stop reporting rumors as fact, they would face legal action. Only one individual was named: Alaska blogger and radio talk show host Shannyn Moore. Forbes spoke with Moore earlier in the month.
Forbes: What was your reaction to Gov. Palin personally identifying you as a target in a four-page legal warning?
Moore: A reporter friend of mine e-mailed me the news--I thought it was a hoax. When I found out it was true, I felt like Bridget Jones after she went down the fire pole with her panties showing, and said to myself, "Ooh, this is awkward." Palin's warning is just an intimidation tactic. I was like, "You want to shut me down on the Fourth of July?" It made me so angry.
You held your own press conference the next day to rebut the governor's charges. Have you ever reported rumors as fact?
Absolutely not. The key rumor that Palin is concerned about is the story that she is under investigation for corruption involving the Wasilla Sports Complex. That and other stories have been out there since October. I never reported them as anything beyond rumors. If she wants to sue me, the most she'll get is my 12-year-old Subaru.

Heard on an interview late one evening.
She was bs-ing the entire time.
Maybe she can fill in for Keeefie Olberhag when he goes on vacation.
Huh? Legal help here. Can you say whatever you want as long as you don't say it's a fact? If you state something, aren't you implying that it's a fact by saying it. The world of the left is so adrift reason breaks down. Of course she drives a Subaru. Assume she has her obligatory purple gaia bumper sticker affixed.
No, I’m guessing the gov’s least favorite blogger is an Englishman and writes for The Atlantic.
Pretty much so. That's why the media uses "alleged" and "some people say." The media is, by its own accord, little more than rumor spreaders.
Alaska’s ethics laws need serious revision. These POS bloggers used and abused these laws
No, Im guessing the govs least favorite blogger is an Englishman and writes for The Atlantic........
The barebacker turned gynecologist
What's more pertinent is that as a public figure Palin's ability to sue for slander or defamation is very limited. So her spokesman can threaten but there isn't much weight behind it.
Shannyn’s claim to fame (15 minutes) is Sarah.....when Sarah leaves Alaska Shannyn will be crying in her beer.
Dirk Smilie?
Ha! Need glasses or a larger font: Dirk Smillie isn’t quite so evocative.
LOL
The rumor she is reporting upon was traced to a Twitter - from Moore’s own phone.
So ya, she be toast
