TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Thousands of protesters streamed down avenues of the capital Thursday, chanting "death to the dictator" and defying security forces who fired tear gas and charged with batons, witnesses said. The first opposition foray into the streets in 11 days aimed to revive mass demonstrations that were crushed in Iran's postelection turmoil.

Iranian authorities had promised tough action to prevent the marches, which supporters of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi have been planning for days in Internet messages. Heavy police forces deployed at key points in the city ahead of the marches, and Tehran's governor vowed to "smash" anyone who heeded the demonstration calls.

In some places, police struck hard. Security forces chased after protesters, beating them with clubs on Valiasr Street, Tehran's biggest north-south avenue, witnesses said.

So the boy marxist is busy trying to strongarm a radical marxist back into power in Honduras, and giving up our missile defenses for Russian 'promises', but ever since Ahmedinejad told Obama to shut up about Iran, not a peep from Obama or the State Dept as thousands have been imprisoned, tortured, and killed.

“...or the State Dept...”

Can they ALL be complicit, or are they just worrying about getting their 20 then getting the hell out?

Gawd, I can’t even IMAGINE working there during these times.

I cannot commend the Iranian people too much for their devotion to truth, justice and liberty which is given to all people everywhere by our Creator and those that do not have it must fight for it just as we did in our own revolution 225 years ago. Truth, justice and liberty are basic human rights and they must be constantly fought for, protected and defended.

I couldn't agree more. To those Iranians fighting & dying for their freedom, there are many Americans that are standing in spirit with you.

Too bad our Thug-in-Chief can't be bothered.

Now if each of them had a nice large caliber rifle and a couple of .45s like I do, and were practicing good gun control (being able to hit your target), that march might have done something.

Nothing demoralizes the Ayatollah scumtroopers more than seeing one of their own have their face ripped off by a well placed round. They are used to piling on but not getting hit.

I wish we had a president now like Ronald Reagan or W who would be speaking out every single day in support of the protestors and the Iranian people. More than ever, we need another Ronald Reagan.
