U.S. President Barack Obama suffered a double-barreled setback in Congress on Thursday when members of his own party moved to apply the brakes on his top legislative priorities, healthcare and climate change.
Obama has demanded urgent and simultaneous attention to overhauling healthcare and addressing climate change, saying both were necessary to boost the U.S. economy, which is in a deep recession.
He has demanded that Congress send him a bill by October to cut healthcare costs and provide medical coverage to most of the 46 million uninsured Americans. The president wants climate change legislation before year's end.
While Obama was in Italy on Thursday encouraging world leaders to intensify the fight against global warming, legislation to cut U.S. emissions of greenhouse gases suffered a delay in the Senate.
The leading Senate committee responsible for developing the climate change legislation put off for at least a month work on a bill, leaving less time for Congress to fulfill Obama's desire to enact a law this year.

The dims are beginning to hear from their brain-dead voters, and they don’t like what they are hearing. They elected a “black guy” because he was black, never thinking he would be able to make major policy decisions. Many are now saying, “Oh shit! what have I done.”
Who works for who?

I want them to go off a cliff.
And be devoured by giant squids,
digested, and turned into crap on the ocean floor.
What a complete crock...
My thoughts, exactly. Just like the “I won” statements....the ‘b’tard.
Obama put pressure on congress to pass his porkulus bills, then waited several days to sign it.
Gee....who in the press noticed that?
(crickets chirping)
Oh, yeah! Heavy taxes on our fuel use and heavy taxes on health care are necessary to boost the economy!!
That any adult can let this statement fly by without seeing the obvious lie to it is either a socialist or a public school graduate.

Hey now, I am public school educated and am a public school educator (business and marketing). I just did a research paper on the success in college, comparing the public school graduate vs the private school graduate - in the mid west. SAT/ACT scores and success at the college level were statistically insignificant - 8 points on the SAT/ACT and .055 on the college GPA.
My employees don't demand.
You're fired, Kenyan Boy.
Yes. And I bet a couple things are going on--'rat congressmen are hearing from the home district and getting an earful; most 'rat congresscritters don't really want to let the White House usurp total control and run them; some of them, maybe the bluedog coalition at least, have to have the common sense to know this is all BS and very bad for the country.
the boy is so out of his league, he'll never know what hit him when it comes...
They are just waiting for the middle of the night , when no on is looking, then they will slide these things thru slicker than grease thru a goose.
Of course, none of this will hit the public til it is already passed.
Some of the tidbits are:
All employers will have to provide HC even for PART TIME employees.
There will be about 40 some overseers or agencies that will have to approve any treatment for any person.
You WILL NOT have your own dr. & insurance "if you are happy with it" as O promised
You will be able to keep your present insurance (something about for 5 years) but it will also be under the gov. guidelines of what treatment you will be allowed!!!
There was more, but by then I was so upset, had to turn it off!!!
This Ariz. congressman is on the Health committee & has not been invited to be in on any of the hearings, saying these are all going on "BEHIND CLOSED DOORS" and they do not have a bill to read, only an outline which is bad enough!!(he said)
