The headline:

The “good news.”

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — The number of Americans filing initial unemployment claims fell sharply last week, while those filing ongoing claims rose to another all-time high, according to government data released Thursday.

There were 565,000 initial jobless claims filed in the week ended July 4, down 52,000 from a revised 617,000 the previous week, the Labor Department said.

It was the lowest number since January and was below the consensus estimate of 603,000 from economists surveyed by Briefing.com.

Analysts said last week’s drop was distorted by a change in the pattern of seasonal layoffs in the automotive industry.

I think there is a looming second leg down for both the economy and the stock market. And the Baraqqis will have a very tough time blaming it on Bush, even with full complicity of the MSM.

“Don’t waste a crisis” may bite the Baraqqis in the butt in the 2010 elections. I have some hope.

On other days, I’m glad Democrats control everything so when Social Security and Medicare go bust, or we get to 20% inflation as the govt prints money to keep them alive, they can receive full blame.

For the 6 years of recovery under GWB, if there were 10 financial indicators, 9 positive and 1 negative, the 1 negative was trumpeted in headlines and lead paragraphs. Now it’s just the opposite. disgusting DBM

The only thing missing from the G8 conference is Obama standing up and playing a few tunes on his violin. Hey, Nero rimes with Zero. Coincidence?

I am waiting for someone, either a politician or a media type, to break from the pack and come out “full-tilt-boogie” against this clown of a President and start pointing out that the Emperor Has No Clothes. When this happens, that person will rocket to the top. People are fed up.

“Don’t waste a crisis”

The sheer audacity of that statement is only surpassed by the sheer idiocy of saying it. It doesn't take a genius to know that to admit to exploiting a crisis clearly means that the exploiter has a natural ulterior motive to expand/continue said crisis. Heck, it highlights the real chance that said crisis was actually purposely created so as to "not waste" the possibilities.

This should be a major theme in 2010 and 2012.

Well this saves me the trouble of creating a thread about the same subject. My version goes along these lines:

"Is it just me or are the economic figures about the health of the nation being manipulated in the most outrageous manner?

Example:
It used to be that the figure everyone understands is --- 'applications for unemployment went up 1.3% last month."

Now it's a double or triple-hidden meaning: "The rate of increase of unemployment applications fell 15% this month!"

The idiot American taxpayer goes out and celebrates --- without a clue of the meaning of what he just heard or read...

The level of manipulation by the MSD is breathtaking! of course, they are getting the "news" faxed to them by the White House, Bawney Fwank or Acorn...

The MSM has been, for many years, and looks to be, for the foreseeable future, the lapdog of the Dems. ANYTHING they print should not be taken as truth, until verified by a different, more reliable source.
