Most Republicans have just finished what might be called the spring of their discontent. Not much went right in the first half of the year; not much to cheer about.
Let us count the ways that the world has conspired to help Mr. Romney. At a time when the Republican Party is straining to find new leaders, other prominent party members who aspire to that role -- Govs. Sarah Palin, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford, and Sen. John Ensign -- have stumbled or, in the case of Gov. Sanford, flamed out in spectacular fashion. Mitt Romney now looks by comparison like the serious adult in the room Beyond that, the national agenda is squarely focused on the economy -- which plays to Mr. Romney's strength as a successful businessman -- rather than on national security, which benefited Sen. John McCain in last year's primaries, or on the social issues where Mr. Romney's tendency to shift about has caused him so much trouble.
And beyond the economy, what are the other big items on the agenda? Well, one is the auto industry, which happens to play nicely to the Romney background as a Michigander and son of an auto-company executive. The other is health care, which tees up Mr. Romney to talk about the health overhaul he led in Massachusetts while that state's governor. All this leads, inevitably enough, to talk of Mr. Romney already emerging as a leading contender for the party's next presidential nomination. Of course, talking about the 2012 presidential race at the midpoint of 2009 is silliness on stilts. Mr. Romney says he doesn't know whether he will run, which is the only sensible thing to say.
"He's very genuine when he says he hasn't made a decision about 2012," says Kevin Madden

Of course, I did get one of them sent to the showers... permanently. ;-D
I hope we help a few more enjoy their golden years...
More from the “Anybody But Palin” wing of the party.
No skin off my nose nor Romney!
Deal with it!:)

Trust me, I am a certified ranking member of “MittBusters”..
Good, it’s about time you and the others acknowledge that neither Myth nor most of you are conservatives.
3 Cheers!
I like to see Palin as Sec of State and clean that place up and than run for pres after our country finances are return to its glory 8 years should do it, as well as the Auto and Oil doing what they do best!
God Bless America!
“Sarahs one of US. Romey isnt and never has been and never will be. Deal with it.”
At the risk of depressing folks - McCain sure wasn’t one of US, but he got the nomination.
As long as we allow primaries where democrats can pick our candidates, we’ll get loser candidates. GWB lost the popular vote to one of the worst candidates in history, and barely beat the worst in 2004.
I’ve got a Palin bumper sticker on my truck, but I sure wouldn’t count on her beating Mr. Demolite! Not in socialist states like Iowa and NH. And with Obama running, the democrats in South Carolina and Florida will feel free to turn out to support Mitt.
Good, its about time you and the others acknowledge that neither Myth nor most of you are conservatives.

we are known by our behavior all I have to go on behind this screen is how another treats others!
These are my principles and values I strive to live by and I never need to put another down to walk up right!
The 9 Principles
1. America Is Good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
God The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained. from George Washingtons first Inaugural address.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
Honesty I hope that I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider to be the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man. George Washington
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
Marriage/Family It is in the love of ones family only that heartfelt happiness is known. By a law of our nature, we cannot be happy without the endearing connections of a family. Thomas Jefferson
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
Justice I deem one of the essential principles of our government
equal and exact justice to all men of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political. Thomas Jefferson
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
Life, Liberty, & The Pursuit of Happiness Everyone has a natural right to choose that vocation in life which he thinks most likely to give him comfortable subsistence. Thomas Jefferson
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
Charity It is not everyone who asketh that deserveth charity; all however, are worth of the inquiry or the deserving may suffer. George Washington
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
On your right to disagree In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking. George Washington
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
Who works for whom? I consider the people who constitute a society or a nation as the source of all authority in that nation. Thomas Jefferson

I’m up early. I’ll bite. :-)
An unidentified candidate has supported the following:
1. Abortion.
2. Homosexual marriage.
3. Socialized medicine.
4. Gun control.
5. Massive government spending for unnecessary government projects.
In you opinion, is the unidentified candidate a conservative or a liberal?
Oh sure, he’s always genuine.
I will not vote for Willard. That’s more than I ever said about McCain.
I’ll betcha after their “retirement” from FR, more than a few of them grab a Ginsu knife and pop in “Madame Butterfly” in the CD player.
Should send a copy of those to Slick Willard. He's broken every one of 'em.
I’m not sure I could vote for a Palin ticket with Romney at the top - or the bottom. Willard is a non-starter for me.
I know he lives the Ten Commandments better than most people here.
I just pray for this country that is will return to its glory and it will take someone who has that talent to do it!
It is too early to see what the horizon holds I will listen carefully to each and everyone has to say...
In the Mean time Love One Another it is a new commandment that many ignore!
Yep, but it won't be Myth.
In the Mean time Love One Another it is a new commandment that many ignore!
Loving one another DOES NOT mean that we ignore the truth about them (as an example, you can look at what Jesus Christ did to the moneychangers in the Temple).
I notice that you didn't answer my question about the unidentified candidate.
…
I wish people would quit talking about 2012; that's not the right focus.
You two are so right!
This horse race BS is how the media control who the nominees are. They use it to promote the ones they want and bury the others. That's how they were able to push McInsane and then Huckafraud to help McInsane.
Further, the horse race BS for 2012 totally takes away from getting back as much of Congress as possible. That has to be the number one goal otherwise there may not be a 2012 to worry about.
BTW, the more stories about Romney like this from the likes of dour Gerry Seib, the more you have to believe that his people were behind a lot of the inside attacks on Sarah.
