Seven Rules for a 2012 Victory
Pajamas Media ^ | july 9 | Jenifer Rubin

To win back the White House, Republicans would do well to follow some common-sense guidelines.

1. No drama. We don’t care if the drama is self-inflicted (Mark Sanford) or follows the contender like a magnetic rain cloud (Sarah Palin). If you can’t control yourself, your family, your finances, and your own life, people won’t trust you with the party or the country. Maybe it isn’t fair to penalize those who are victims of a hostile media storm, but if between now and 2012 People magazine has more material on the candidate than the Economist, it really is time to exit.

2. The “Look Ma, No Experience!” fad may have passed with the election of Barack Obama....

I'll perform a little public service here. Ye hordes about to descend -- you can save a bit of wear and tear on your typing fingers by simply cutting and pasting these words:

RINO PALIN HATER TROLL ROMNEYBOT

6. Figure out the demography. The old, white, southern men don’t vote in great enough numbers to elect the next president. Take a credible position on immigration and stress the benefits of assimilation as the key to the American success story. Explain why conservative ideas benefit the poor and newcomers to America. Make the argument for the American dream. And if the party’s tone on immigration has been off-putting, change the tone and lead by example.

Any real conservative will generate media-manufactured drama that follows the contender "like a magnetic rain cloud."

The only way the GOP could avoid media-manufactured drama is to nominate Democrats in the Republican primaries.

How's this for a position?

Nobody gets in without our permission. Those who've gotten in without our permission, Get Out.
Those here without our permission historically have shown a strong disdain for assimilation.

I no longer care if the GOP wins or loses, and I will continue to not care, unless the GOP grows two things - principles and testicles. (maybe that’s three)

What should be number 1:

GOP needs to cut the umbilical cord with the rich, well-to-do and start seeing the whole of America.

parsy, the ex-GOP’er

I agree that if the GOP has any ticking time-bombs out there (felons, adulterers, molesters, perverts, bigots, dope addicts, mentally unhinged, etc.) we need to confront and purge them NOW. You know that the Dims will be out there trying to bait the next Larry Craig a hundred days before the election.

Aside from that, Sarah touring the country in her nicely tailored skirt sets under the banner “Remember JOBS?” should do the trick nicely.

The first rule is so stupid, I didn't bother reading the others. "No drama." Since "drama" can be inflicted unilaterally by the enemy, it will be dumped on any GOP candidate worth having.

Adopting a "no drama" rule gives the left an automatic veto of any candidate they don't like. We let the left pick our nominee in 2008, and they gave us John McCain. The only good that came out of that was that he screwed up and selected Sarah Palin as his running mate. McCain and the rest of the RINOs have been trying to undo that ever since.

Five rules too many.

Rule #1. Know that the MSM is your enemy. Never let them define the issues. Bypass them at every opportunity.

Rule #2. Commit yourself to the principle that in your administration, the concept of "bailouts" will refer only to parachute jumping. Make sure to say this in every speech, every interview, and every advertisement.

And a spine.

The stones are what get things going. But a spine is what keeps you in the fight.
