Are you certain of that????

Nothing that I have received from them or that I have read anywhere, indicated that they were on board with any government enforced insurance program anywhere.

Please post your reference from Heritage for us all to read.

Actually he is correct, the original prototype for Romneycare was a study done at Heritiage trying to come up with a workable counter proposal to the full blown ideas of the left.

Some in the Heritage health care group have supported Romney's attempt at giving it a try, but I would say it is not the organization as a whole, indeed the idea was never actually taken beyond “the lab” by Heritage, just picked up as Romney was making his own.

Obviously there was a reason for that. There is no “government based” solution, conservative or otherwise that works in the real world....

Romney tried it anyways...

In Heritage's defense, and I say this as one of the most loathed of all “Mitt bashers” (I'm famous ya know) It is not the entirety of Heritage that has endorsed it, just the health care work group, which is a bit winky like all health care orgs. Obviously the Parent organization has not contravened it for the sake of harmony, but they don’t make a big deal about it either (hence why you have never seen much about it in their publications)

The Plan that Romneycare was based on was a study, Heritage itself never even floated it out past the ‘think tank” stage.

So keep Heritage on your good list for now, just know there are some doctor wonks that got a wee bit giddy their idea got out, despite the fact it should never have seen the light of day in the real world...

If you want to know more, spend some time at Heritage reading up, and it will take time to see exactly where they really are as a group on this.
