The recent Rasmussen poll that found a significant deterioration in the level of support for Supreme Court nominee Sonya Sotomayor warrants a tad more scrutiny.
In a poll conducted May 2627 Rasmussen found that likely voters wanted to confirm Sotomayor by the margin of 45% to 29%. This was an underwhelming margin, to be sure, given all the laudatory media coverage, and may have been an early warning sign that Sotomayor could be vulnerable.
A month later that 16-point advantage has disappeared. Rasmussens June 2930 survey found that support for her confirmation has fallen 8 points, to 37%, while opposition has risen 10 points to 39%.

I don’t think it’s trickling out at the pace we would like it to. Michael Jackson and Sarah Palin knocked her off the airwaves. I care about her nomination, but I’m loving how Palin’s resignation has had exactly the opposite effect of what I’d anticipated and am so riveted, that it’s all I can do to read anything not related to Palin - not hard to do on this site, Palin Republic, these days.
Eventually, the dim little fridge bulb flickers on over their heads and they realize that they just might be getting screwed.
