At my church it has been all about the new building and the outrageously expensive new organ, which I’m still trying to figure out the necessity for.
Other than it being a bribe to get the music director to stay I can’t see why it is needed. The cost was in excess of $2 million and that doesn’t include the costs of remodeling the sanctuary so that it will fit in the space.
These days it isn’t so much about spiritual salvation as it is about “pomp and show”.

The only organ, IMO, that is necessary to praise God is a heart. He judges us by our heart and not the sound of music.
