I am not a believer in punishing “hate” crimes. These punks need to be charged for beating these people no matter their color. However, we continue to see a double standard in the media where they indicate crimes committed by whites against non-whites are considered “hate” crimes and seldom vice-versa.

Anyone who signs for that piece of legislation should be strung up if they do not specify it covers everyone equally, not some more equally than others.

It is obvious from the facts that the whites were attacked purely because they were white.
That meets the definition of “Hate Crime” in the proposed law.
Had they been attacked for any other reason, it wouldn’t. That’s what Obama’s AG actually said.
It’s because local law enforcement doesn’t always do its job that “hate crimes” laws are needed. They really shouldn’t be, but cases like this, and many others, show they are. They should all have a Sunset clause in though, because after a while, the problem would tend to go away. They may be necessary, but they’re odious.
There’s a one sided race war in progress but no one wants to see it.
The politicians should have listened to Moynihan a few years back.

Well, I don’t like it one bit. I’m not sure I understand what you mean by hate crime laws being needed because local LE doesn’t do it’s job. Is it that more laws (more thought crime charges) would be a deterrent?
We have a right to hate. We just don’t have a right to act on that hatred. Those that do are criminals. It’s been that way since we became civilized.
The actual article on drudge has Akron officials saying, “it could just be a bunch of kids.”

What I love about those commercials is how the phone rings, and the woman calmly says “Hello?”
Instead of “WTF you want?” or “You better be the GD SOB alarm company!”
Yeah, I have just fled for my life from an intruder, and I am going to say “Hel-lo?” when the phone rings.
And truth be told, intruders today are not going to stop because of an alarm going off. They know help is minutes away when they can do their damge in less than 60 seconds.
