Kyl: Put the kibosh on Obama stimulus
Phoenix Business Journal ^ | 7/8/09 | Mike Sunnucks

U.S. Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., wants to nix the rest of the $787 billion federal stimulus plan championed by the Barack Obama administration.

Kyl said the Obama stimulus has been slow to jump-start the U.S. economy, federal money is not getting into so-called “shovel ready” projects and the U.S. economy will have recovered by the time the taxpayer money flows.

“Many experts also warned that government spending of such magnitude couldn’t be disbursed in a timely way, and now it’s clear that most of the stimulus money hasn’t even been put to use. According to the White House Web site, recovery.gog, which tracks how the stimulus money is being spent, only 6.2 percent of the stimulus bill has reached the economy as of June 12. And the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office projects less than a quarter of the total ‘stimulus’ money will be spent before the end of this year, with the bulk of it distributed over the next three years,” said Kyl in column penned on the stimulus.

Stimulus of the economy was never the idea behind the move. It was simply the selling point. The idea from the get-go was to reward those who had helped assure an Obama victory and the gaining of a majority of both houses of congress. Had the primary purpose of the stimulus been it affect on the economy it would have been given directly to the consumer, in the form of tax holidays and that sort thing.

The problem is though, tax holidays give the consumer and producers in society control over the stimulus. That can't be. The deal is that they will give you back some of your own money IF they can tell you how to spend it. And if you haven't paid anything in to the system to be refunded then they will take part of the money that should be going to those who have paid in and hand it out to the non-producers.

The whole thing has absolutely nothing to do with stimulating the economy but rather to further their control over every aspect of life in America and make sure they have the money needed to continue to buy votes with taxpayers hard-earned funds.

Great idea and I hope he is successful, but with the addition of Al Freakinstein to the Senate, it is filibusterproof.

How can they stop the madness??

By exposing it constantly for the unconstitutional, ineffective, cronyist, wasteful crap that it is so Americans demand its repeal.

I just sent an email to Kyl supporting him.
I have been saying the past couple of weeks that the Repubs are really missing an opportunity on this one. Since the Dumbcrats don’t know how to pay for 0zer0’s Socialized Health Care, the Repubs should offer a bill to repeal the bogus Porkulus. Everyone knows it’s not working. The Repubs could use the $700 Billion for real health care reform. This will put the Dumbcrats on the defensive big time since the Repubs can offer an alternative, plus show how to pay for it without adding to the deficit, plus weaken the Dumbcrats base which is the only real benefit of the Porkulus. The Dumbcrats will have a cow trying to defend this abortion of a bill and how it has driven up unemployment instead of creating jobs.
