Ramping up the 2012 speculation this week is Indiana Republican Rep. Mike Pence, who will visit the Hawkeye State later his month to headline two events.
The first, held July 24 in Linn County, will be a picnic and fundraiser for the Republican Party of Iowa. Prior to the event, Pence will tour flood-damaged areas of Cedar Rapids.
The next day, Pence will be featured at Iowa Rep. Steve Kings Conservative Family Picnic in Sioux City. The event is a fundraiser for Kings 2010 re-election campaign.

A welcome addition, but its still Hunter/Demint all the way.
Pence is the one to watch.
I’d take him as Hunter’s VP if DeMint is not interested.
Palin/Pence.......or just sit on the fence.
Just thinking.......
I’ll take Pence of Palin. But she may be his formidable foe.
Hunter, DeMint, Pence.
All good ones.
Yep. All rock ribbers.
The last sitting congressman to be elected to the presidency was James A. Garfield. Pence will have to run for governor or senator to be seriously considered. That is also why Hunter and Tancredo were never credible candidates - they didn’t have a big enough base to start with.
“Id take him as Hunters VP if DeMint is not interested.”
I’d like Hunter as Pence’s VP. Pence is about as solid as they come (until he proves otherwise, of course).
Man, it’s hard to keep a positive attitude about any of them anymore. Especially after the Sanford thing.
I'd love to see Sarah endorse Hunter.
“Palin/Pence.......or just sit on the fence.”
“Pence/Palin.........as opposed to more failin’”
Pence is solid. He went a bit wobbly on immigration for awhile until Hunter reeled him back in and scuttled any ‘negotiations’ with the Senators.
I am a big Pence fan (so far). Also love Palin and Michelle Bachman. Demint is on my radar too. Hunter would be great but, I just don’t think he wants it anymore and he didn’t do so hot the first time around. I really don’t want to see anyone from 2008(unless it’s Palin).
Someone like a Pence has a large following outside of his own district. It could be enough to give him a decent start in the primaries and his ideas could take him the rest of the way.
Being a Senator is almost as bad of an option if one want’s to become President, but look who is occupying the WH. A former U.S. Senator.
I think a member of the HOR could win a Presidential election if they were a well known member. They would have to be a big star in the HOR or in a leadership position.
A typical congresscritter would not be able to win though for the reason you pointed out. Not enough Name Recognition.
“Pence is solid. He went a bit wobbly on immigration for awhile until Hunter reeled him back in and scuttled any negotiations with the Senators.”
True. Pence is also one that will listen to his constituents. He’s been reeled in by them as well. I do believe, however, that a previous post has a point. As a congressman, he doesn’t have a large enough base. He’s been getting a lot of coverage in the conservative media (what little there is), but the MSM treats him like they do any other true conservative.
He needs a big name on his coat tails.
I think I’d be very content with any combination of Hunter/Pence/DeMint/Cheney(Dick)/King(Steve).
Palin/Barbour/Jindal/Daniels/Hoeven would be acceptable.
Newt/Mitt/Huck I’d have to plug my nose.
Pence/Palin.........as opposed to more failin
Either way, let’s get the ship sailin’ !
I don’t want to see anyone from 2008 EXCEPT Hunter. LOL. You hear that Ron Paul?!
