No, it is better to have a tough primary season where the Republican candidates duke it out. It creates better candidates.
This is one thing Rove has said and I agree with. Kerry and Gore really had no primary fight. Bush had to go against McCain. Obama really improved during the fight with Hillary.
The more the primary candidates fight, the better candidates they become for the general election.
