It was Christmas in July for some Westchester County residents.
A wintry mix of hail and heavy thunderstorms downed trees and utility poles in Yonkers last night -- causing mountains of slush and ice to build up in parking lots and on grassy areas.
Police said at least two homes were damaged by falling sleet, which hit the area at 11:30 p.m.

Damn that global warming!
Thank goodness for global warming ... otherwise they could of been snowed in year round up north.
*rolls eyes*
“Snow plows were called in early this morning to help remove the snow, while extra fire trucks were on hand to help with the unseasonal cleanup.”
Al Gore is a braying jackass of a fool.
Why do they refer to hail as snow?
here on Long Island we got hit with massive thunder and lightning and Rain, but no hale, snow or slush....
we shall fight on the seas and oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,
we shall fight on the beaches,
we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,
we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender...
Oh Noes!! The climate is changing!!
Yonkers would be under a glacier by now if it wasn’t for global warming! God Bless Al Gore and all other fulminating Gas Bags!
Typical of American journalism, this writer doesn’t seem to know the difference between hail and snow.
Here in northern West Virginia AccuWeather reports that the first 8 days of July have all had below average temperatures. Averaging over 6 degrees below normal. And June was below average as well.
Since WHEN is hail part of a “wintry mix”?
When it is combined with snow. Which Yonkers had too.
How crappy does a roof have to be for sleet to damage it?
Hail, yeah...but sleet "damaging" roofs?
Look at the response of this Flavorade drinking idiot.

Weather has been so strange. Wet and sometimes downright cold. Personally, I love the spring and fall time the most, so it’s been very comfortable overall.”
It’s summer in New York. They regularly get hailstorms. It’s not unusual or strange to get strong hailstorms in the summertime in NY.
So okay smart guy, explain the loincloths and back to fig leaves.
ROFL
This afternoon we’ve got spring time temps here
Badger Ridge, Rochester, Minnesota (PWS)
Updated: 1 sec ago
60.6 °F
Temps were in the 60's and it isn't going to sleet or snow with temps that warm.
This was a summertime severe weather event and nothing unusual...so everyone needs to stop claiming the globull warming is non-existant because of this event...because the two are not linked. Hail storms happen.
Global warming is a myth...but not because it hailed in NY. And not because its been cool there either ... just like "JUNE 2009 WAS ALSO THE 2ND WARMEST JUNE EVER RECORDED FOR THE CITY OF HOUSTON" also doesn't prove global warming.
