The problem is that in the American political tradition “conservative” has come to mean one supporting the present system of international trade, or if not supporting it as it is, then supporting globalizing it further. The Wall Street GOP hijacked the American conservatism, so now the recommendation to reduce the role of markets is seen, through the American prism, as liberal.
What are your thoughts on conservatism of Pat Buchanan? Is he liberal too?
