"I cannot support the House bill in its present form," Byrd said in a statement. "I continue to believe that clean coal can be a 'green' energy........

I hope Byrd lives long enough to defeat this legislation. I don’t care if you have to reanimate him like in “Weekend at Bernie’s”, we need every swingin’ you-know-what to defeat this turd of a bill. Cap and trade is entre to the end of everything we Know.

Granted Obama doesn’t understand or care to understand the constitution but can you credibly tell me that Klansman Byrd is the best person to explain it to him? How about we get a serious legal analyst like Akhil Amar to do it instead?

I saw a partial list of six democratic senators from coal-producing states about a week ago. Those six will not support the ‘cap and trade’ deal. I also think think at least six more democrats from the south are likely to be very much opposed to the deal. The question will be if they can find three or four Republicans who would cross the line. Frankly, I believe McCain will be one of them.

In this case, yes. Byrd is a constitutional expert.

Even if Byrd passes - and I am not wishing him ill health - whomever is sent by WV to replace him will vote against this. They key would be for the WV gov or legislature (I don’t know their rules) to make the replacement quickly.

It is weird. I found myself rooting for Putin yesterday. He seems the lesser of the two evils.

Three will be easy since it is a given that Collins and Snowe will sell us out.
